Cowhides and Layers

Cowhides aren't just for Texans ya know!! I'm seeing more and more cowhide and especially zebra skin rugs layered in spaces. And just so we're clear, I'm not advocating you go shoot an animal for a lovely living room rug. I'm totally cool with faux skins!

These rugs çan be used just about anywhere in your home. This above bedroom is sophisticated with a few feminine elements and a cowhide thrown in to add a bit of pattern. I'm really liking how it's offset on the shag rug!

You can't go wrong layering over a sisal rug!  It looks more substantial and makes the cowhide the focal point.

I adore this neutral space! Gray, creams, a touch of greenery, and zebra! Perfection!

Another great example in a bedroom! How crisp and calm is this room? And, that little dog sticking out is precious!

Are you on board with this trend? Where would you use an animal skin rug in your home?

The City By The Bay

I'm off to meet the hubby for an anniversary getaway! All these years, and I've never been to San Francisco. So excited for new adventures and adult time with no 3 year old in tow!

We're headed to a Giants/Cubs baseball game which means I can mark another major baseball stadium off my to see list!

Friday night Justin Timberlake and Jay- Z are in town so of course we are going to jam out! Good thing I bought this new shirt at The Anniversary sale last week! How appropriate! And, the bonus factor is it doesn't scream old, pregnant lady!

Saturday, I can't wait to hit up the Farmers Market at The Ferry Building! How much produce do you think I could haul back on the plane? Not enough for my liking!

You can follow along on Instagram to see what delicious food I'm intaking and highlights of our trip!

No Get Social Sunday this week, so see you next week!

Choosing a Chandy

There's a few items left to select for baby H's nursery and the all important chandelier is one of them. The bulky, traditional ceiling fan is out, and something magical and sparkly is due in it's place. I've narrowed down my search to these but would like another opinion!

Do I go with a vintage crystal look finishd in antique silver?

This French Empire stye is finished in a grey antiqued patina and a bit less formal than the first option with less teardrops.

Dauphine isn't your traditional or expected style when thinking of a girly, crystal chandelier. It would add a fun, fairytale feel to the nursery.

Or, do I go with a simple, elegant scroll arm feel with an oatmeal finish?

I love them all which makes it so hard to choose! I definitely think I'm leaning towards one of them, but I want to know what you think! Input please!

A 3rd Birthday Bash

Happy Tuesday! Another week of summer is upon us. Before I know it, fall and the cool weather will be here as well as crazy schedules!

As promised, I'm sharing pictures from Ava's 3rd birthday party with you. So, I'm just a tad bit late getting them up! She called it a beach ball party but I say it was more of an "Under the Sea" theme! This was the first year she recognized that it was her birthday and she was a year older. Now, everyday she tells me she's getting bigger! Love her little lingo!

Here's the birthday girl with a few of her favorite men, minus Daddy! That's Poppy (my dad) and Uncle B (my brother)!

The idea of her party all started when I saw a similar cake on Pinterest. Ava loved the sunglasses so I was sold on the theme! A friend of a friend made her cake and it was more than I could've hoped for! It was seriously the best cake I've ever eaten. I put it up there with my wedding cake!

As if cake wasn't enough, we had cupcakes too! Cute toppers are a must!

Snacks outdoors for all the littles running around!

You can't have a beach ball party without sand pails and beach balls for the party guests.

The piñata was a hit!! No pun intended!

Overall, baby girl had a blast partying it up until she crashed out that evening! It was a day jam packed full of fun, friends, and family! We couldn't have asked for a better time!

Vacation Recap

Last week we were in Sandestin enjoying the sun, surf, and sand! It was so beautiful there as always and the ocean is gorgeous in various shades of aqua. It's always a fun time with the family!

Little miss loved swimming in the pool with daddy!

Gammy's foot photo bombed this cute picture!

She also loved playing in the sand and turning Poppy into a Bubble Guppy as she called it!

However, she was petrified of getting in the ocean! This is her look of fear! She said she wasn't going in the water because that's where the sharks, whales, and dolphins live! Glad we took her to Sea World last month! (insert sarcasm)

Little Miss also loved all the boats in the harbor. She wanted Daddy to buy a boat like the one behind us in this picture! It's actually owned by a Nascar driver and was massive!

I was shocked when Ava actually ventured near the water for family pictures! That was until a 7 foot shark swam by the shoreline and everyone started screaming! Guess, she was right about what lives in there!

It was such a great trip even though she wouldn't swim in the ocean with mommy! Maybe next year!

After a week of relaxing on the beach it's back to business! I'm taking today to get caught up on taxes (barf!), editing pictures for this ol' blog, and starting a nursery design board for a dear friend of mine.

I'll be sharing vacay pictures with you this week as well as Ava's 3rd birthday party pics so stick around!

I'm off now to be productive on this rainy day!

My Summer Beach Reads

There are a few authors whose novels I read regularly and these ladies fall on that list! Their books are always full of drama, and easy reads for the beach or by the pool. Mindless reads basically!

Wedding Night by Sophie Kinsella

I just finished this book because it's quite comical and I couldn't put it down. While it might be somewhat predictable, you want to keep reading to find out what happens!

Revenge Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger

I'm currently in the midst of reading this. If you've read The Devil Wears Prada then you'll want to dive into this one as well. Definitely a great sequel so far. Maybe this will turn into a movie as well.

Baby Loves Summer by Karen Katz

If you have little ones, this flip book is adorable. Ava loves to turn the flaps and giggle at the baby. It's a quick read and easy to travel with. We've taken it on several trips this summer for our bedtime read. All her flip books are worth purchasing!

What book is in your beach bag?

On My Radar

Here are a few things I'm currently crushing on!

Some of my rugs are wearing out and looking a bit rough around the edges which happens with kids and dogs around! I've got my eye on this replacement when I can't stand the current one in the living room anyone. I love the natural texture and the herringbone pattern!

Also, when I switch out the rug I'd like to switch out the heavy, dark coffee table for this clean, distressed wood table.

This console table from Restoration Hardware makes my heart palpitate.  Too bad I have absolutely no place to put this in my home. Maybe one day I'll play musical furniture and bring this baby home!

Loving boxwoods these days to add some more green to my home. While these RH preserved boxwood globes are lovely, I'm hunting for a bargain! Time to hit up Home Goods.

What's on your radar these days?
