Guest Bathroom Reveal

Our guest bathroom has been finished for a while, but of course client projects take precedence and I kept putting off photographing the space.
It's such a small space off the upstairs hallway, so it was kind of hard to shoot. There is no natural light, but the images came out pretty true looking.

The walls are painted Benjamin Moore Iron Mountain. I used what I had around the house to style the space except for adding a new shelf, towels, and artwork. I found all those pieces at Home Goods! I also purchased the bird artwork from Target. I kept eyeing them but didn't have a reason or need for them until the bathroom was complete. I knew they would fit in perfectly!

To give you an idea of the transformation, here's the before shot:

I went from light and airy to dark and dramatic! I couldn't be happier with the outcome! I'm pretty much obsessed with the dark paint!

I'm Back....

Wondering where I've been? Well, I'm back and busy as ever! I have a lot of client projects going on so blogging has taken a back seat. Sorry, I've been slacking around here, but hopefully you'll enjoy the projects I'm going to be sharing with you in the coming weeks.

I'm currently working on a nursery for a sweet little girl that's set to arrive in 6 short weeks! Needless to say, we are moving at a fast and furious pace! My client is so sweet and great at making decisions quickly which makes my job easier!

We ordered the Emelia sleigh crib from Restoration Hardware in Aged White.

We chose the Washed Velvet Bumper in Lilac, but we are getting a crib skirt made in a fabulous pewter, green, and amethyst silk ikat fabric!

Light French Gray is going up on the walls in the nursery

Grape Mist is going on the ceiling in the nursery.

Here's the current state of the bedroom:

We are using the dresser without the mirror, and everything else is moving into the guest room.

Today, the wallpaper is being removed in the adjoining bathroom. The walls will be Grape Mist and the ceiling Light French Gray! A little reverse action!

I can't wait to show you progress shots along the way. The crib will hopefully arrive in the next 2 weeks and then we can get moving rapidly!

A Classy Kid's Bath

A kid's bathroom doesn't have to be colorful and juvenile or decked out in Disney characters! You can achieve a whimsical look that's classy and elegant all at the same time. I used a simple striped shower curtain from West Elm and paired it with an animal print rug to add pattern and an unexpected element.

The artwork is Sugarboo which is a favorite of mine! It adds a playful touch to any space!

A few elegant accessories and classy lighting makes this bathroom fit for just about anyone!

My Navy Bathroom {Updated}

The guest bath got a few updates this week. I'm still loving the dark navy paint, but I was tired of all the added color. It was feeling a little overwhelming. Here's a reminder of what it previously looked like.

And now with a new shower curtain, towels, and muted tones.

The orange soap is obviously just a holiday pick and not staying forever!

I pulled the clock from another room. I think it's better utilized here and a bit unexpected for a bathroom.

The golds, grays, and creams are much more subtle and flow better with the rest of our home. I knew I couldn't pass up the shower curtain when I saw it at Target. Plus, it was only $20. The gray towels I also scored there and they were on clearance. I can't say I have many $30 makeovers!

A Powder Bath to Drool Over

There's something so edgy, yet sophisticated about this splatter-paint wallpaper from Hinson and Company. The red and gold scones also add a touch of glamour!

Would you go for this look? If so, would you keep it in a small space like a powder room or would you go big and bold?

A Bathroom Makeover

Last week I told you that I got a wild hair and painted one of our bathrooms upstairs. This is primarily a guest bathroom so I wanted it to be fresh and inviting. I had a sample cup of Palladian Blue and was dying to paint a room that color, so this was the perfect candidate.
I'm loving the new, brighter feel and hopefully my future guests will too! I actually sent a picture to my best friend who uses it most often when she visits and asked her how she liked her new bathroom. She loved it and agreed its a huge improvement.

The printable is from here.

Here's a reminder of what I started off with. You can see the space was dark, and lacked crispness or a calming effect.

And, here's another after shot! I'll say it again, "The easiest way to transform a space is with paint!"

Not only did this space get a whole new feel, but I spent very little money. I shopped my own home to style the space which was free!!

Here's the breakdown on what I spent:

Paint- Benjamin Moore Palladian Blue $30
Shower Curtain- Target $25
Acrylic Tray- The Container Store $10

Do the math, and that's a whopping $65! Not bad considering the transformation!

A Quatrefoil Mirror Perhaps

When I share my newly painted guest bath pictures with you, it will be apparent that the hideous builder mirror still exists! I've been shopping around for a new mirror that will dress up the space and of course not break the bank. Mirrors can be pricey as I'm sure you know! Here are some great options to dress up any bathroom.

If I go with this mirror it needs a couple coats of spray paint to give it a cleaner and brighter look.

From the title of this post you can tell which one I'm leaning towards! I need to head to Lowes to check it out in person now!

Which one would you choose?

What I'm Up To

This is what's happening right now!

I was so sick of the dark, blah guest bathroom! Instead of just switching out the light bulbs for brighter ones I decided to just slap some paint on the walls. That's normal to grab a sample cup from the garage and go to town, right?!

As you can see the sample cup quickly ran out yesterday! So, off for more paint I went. I'm finishing this up today and then adding new accessories! Time for a fresh, and brighter look.

You can't tell from the awful lighting in the pics, but this is the color I'm using.

Benjamin Moore Palladian Blue

Here's what my final product should look like:

Crisp and clean with tons of white! That's my goal, but in a bathroom, not living room. You get the point though.

P.S. I did go ahead and buy some new light bulbs when I was getting paint. I can't believe it took me this long because the difference is huge! You'll see.

I'll have more photos to share soon, so come back!

Anthro Look Alike

Have you seen these towels at Target?

or the coordinating rug:

They remind me of these Anthro towels that I've always drooled over, but at a fraction of the price.

I'm thinking of adding a few to my master bath to spruce things up a bit. They also come in an aqua version that's just as lovely.

Guest Bath Reveal

The guest bath is finally ready to show off after months of procrastinating. I had great intentions of hanging the mirror that sat behind the door for 4 months, until I used it on my mantle last week. So, don't expect to see a grand mirror. It will eventually happen, but just not right now. New spring clothes and my sale rug trumped a mirror for now! Here's the almost finished navy bathroom.
