My Holiday Home {The Mantle}

"The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, in hope that St.Nick soon would be here!"

It only took me a handful of trips to Target to remember the command hooks to hang my stockings and complete the mantle decor. My inspiration this year was based on a black, gold, and green scheme. The mantle was already styled  in black and white so I stuck with the existing decor. I added green balls and the boxwood wreath along with new stockings I scored at Marshalls.

The green ribbon adds a finishing touch to the gold deer.

I'm sure you have seen a similar idea on Pinterest.  A few LED stems from Target and faux branches completely transformed this basket. So simple, but high impact! At night the living room is so cozy now with the fireplace and lights from the tree and hearth! This will definitely be the last area to get undecorated after the holidays!

My Holiday Home {The Entry}

Have you noticed that I'm a little late at posting my holiday home this year? No, that can't be because I have a newborn!

To be completely honest, I wasn't sure I would even attempt trying to decorate for Christmas, but who am I kidding? I absolutely love the holiday season and my 3 year old is so excited for the Christmas! She had such a blast helping me pull out all the decor and especially hang ornaments on the tree!

This year things are a bit simple and I used what was on hand instead of trying to totally recreate the wheel! There are a mix of metals and soft colors as well as some natural elements and lots of greenery!

What I love most is definitely displaying all the cards we receive! It's so exciting to get new cards in the mail and see all the smiling faces of our friends and family! Since my display is small, I'm working on a new way to show them off. The ice however has put a damper on my spray painting. Just 1 more coat of gold and I'll show you the new display!

I saw this high/low armchair comparison on Pinterest and thought it was definitely worth sharing with you!

I can speak from experience and honestly say that the 3 beige low end chairs are fabulous finds! I've sourced each one out to clients before and they have all been very happy with the quality and comfort. Plus, you can't beat the prices! The Spindle Chair at the top from Z Gallerie is one of my favorites! Too bad I don't have a place in my own home for it!

Favorite Holiday Recipe

My motto as a kid was always "eat dessert first! We would go to the yummiest grossest cafe on Earth, Luby's and I would always get chocolate pie and devour it first. Just in case a fire ever occurred, I didn't want my dessert to waste. I can now thank Luby's for the extra pounds I acquired as a kid.

Since we are speaking of desserts, my new favorite as an adult with a richer palette is my mom's pecan pie! We always enjoy it during the holiday season, so why not share it with you today?! Last week, on Thanksgiving I ate less of the "big meal" to save room for the 3 pieces (yes, you read that right) of mom's Pecan Pie that I nibbled on the rest of the day! It was dessert, dinner, and my late night snack! It's just that good!

This recipe holds special meaning to my heart not only because mom makes it, but because my late Grandpa LOVED it! Every holiday he would make extra sure we were bringing the pecan pie that was made with fresh pecans from his tree. And we always saved the last piece for him.
I know this recipe is sure to satisfy any sweet tooth!

Do you have a special, family recipe you religiously rely on every holiday season?
