Going, Going, Gone

No, you are not dreaming! Yes, you read that correctly! This coveted Expedit series is being discontinued! Boo IKEA!! They announced the news yesterday and as you can imagine decorators, moms, and record collectors are all up in arms over this news! Apparently it's the perfect piece to store records! Who knew?!

I guess they are replacing these with a new rounded storage version that's more kid friendly! I will be the judge of that new style and see if I approve. 

So, for now, run, don't walk to IKEA and stock up on Expedit pieces. I think I might grab a few of the  top one! It's perfect for closet storage!

On a recent trip to IKEA I spotted some new items! At least they are new to me because I've been avoiding the crazy packed store for a while. What got me most excited was to see all the Ribba frames now in high gloss gray! Man does this save me time and money now from having to spray paint frames gray!

I also about died when I saw the wall clock in mint! Oh hello love!! I haven't purchased it yet, but it's definitely on my radar now!

Chest! I'm loving this new version of the MALM at IKEA! Thought about a pair for A's big girl room, then I quickly realized the tiny fingerprints would drive me nuts!! Maybe for the guest room instead?

Frugal Friday Find {Update}

Got It! 

Last weekend when I was in Austin I took a little detour to IKEA in Round Rock since their inventory showed the Fiddle Leaf in stock. Sure enough, there was 1 lonely little Fig left! It's not nearly as tall as the picture conveys and it was quite in bad shape. With the help of a few bamboo sticks, it's now standing tall and proud in my entryway. I haven't quite decided where it will stay as of yet, and I still need a basket for it. 

Originally, I wanted the black and bronze pot from IKEA, but now I'm thinking a jute basket of some sort. I'm off to Home Goods today to hopefully find something! 

Lets also hope I can keep this beauty alive, then I'll be on the hunt for a much larger and taller one for my dining room!

Frugal Friday Find

I love both of them, but unfortunately after racking my brain I've decided my home can't utilize one right now! Bummer! 

I can just imagine the possibilities of this cart though. What great storage for a closet, pantry, office, or kid's room!

Random items I know! There is actually a rime and reason though for each thing. The vase I'm envisioning in the guest bedroom when it gets a redo along with possibly the Robert Allen pillow and Premier fabric as a detail on the drapes.

The balloon art is adorable and would look great in the new big girl room design along with the pink tray. I'll take the navy tray if I can ever find it for my baubles. If you are an IKEA shopper and you come across these trays I will totally pay you to pick them up for me. Our IKEA is under renovation and has been out of them forever!! So annoying! So, next time you hit up IKEA think of me!

Chalkboard is Finished

This is take 2 of the chalkboard post. I scheduled it for this morning, but was exhausted and didn't get around to finishing the post last night, so when it was up this morning it was blank. Hopefully no one saw.

Here's the new IKEA chalkboard I painted Watermelon for the big girl room. It's going to be part of her new art studio I'm assembling in the closet once I ever clear out the remaining junk.

The mini buckets were a find at the Target $1 section. I'm obsessed with that area! Now, I'm sure you probably think I'm crazy for putting crayons and colored pencils next to the chalkboard. There's actually a bar that holds a roll of paper for drawing. And, I'll actually add chalk and dry erase markers at some point too. The basket underneath will hold her coloring books, tablets, etc.

Here's what happened as soon as my cranky, almost 2 year old checked out her new area.

Well, now you can see it's not always perfect around here. Far from it in fact. This is just life with a toddler.

Playroom Design Board

A sweet friend of mine is having a baby girl this summer, which makes 3, so a gender neutral playroom is in order for their family. We all want a space where our kids can retreat to make a mess to their little heart's content. This new space will be in what was the dining room, which opens up to the main hallway. We knew organization and tidiness was in order to hide the clutter and millions of toys. Here's what we brainstormed together on the premise of using primary colors. 

We had a successful IKEA trip the other day where we picked up most of the items except the Expedit which they were out of. The new high gloss gray is a nice alternative to the white I usually gravitate towards.

The chevron rug was 60% off over the weekend (score) so it should arrive in the next week, and the room is being painted Friday. We hope to make some progress over the weekend and next week. I'll of course share the progress with you.

This is a race against the baby clock- K arrives in 8 weeks or less and Mama will need a place for the boys to escape to for her sanity!

Living Room Tour

My New Obsession

These IKEA drapes are so drool worthy. (The pics below don't do them justice) I recently purchased a green pair for our guest bedroom and the navy ones for mom's newly designed breakfast area. They are a cotton-velvet and are thick enough to reduce the amount of incoming sunlight for those days that we just want to snooze! Also, an added bonus is that they are machine washable! I mean, you can't beat the price of 49.99 or 69.99 for the 120 length. IKEA rocks it again! Now, if only I could stay away from there for at least a week.

It's now in mom's kitchen! I spent the weekend painting the space and finishing the install yesterday. Nothing like waking up on a Friday with a plan and executing it in 3 days. The space looks completely different, elegant, and stylish. And as soon as our canvas arrives to complete the gallery wall, I'll be sharing pics with you.

Nursery Design Board

For the BIG "If and When" I get to design a nursery for any one of my married and trying to get pregnant friends, then this is one option I have come up with. I'm hooked on navy and lime green right now so I thought those colors in a nursery would be fabulous! I just went for it! The design is gender neutral and touches can be added to make it more feminine or masculine. What are your thoughts?
