Fall is Here

Fall is officially here and while the cool temps might not have arrived yet, I can still dream of everything fall means....

The leaves changing colors and acorns falling to the ground...

Pumpkins, gourds, and mums on porches...

Plaid scarves, booties, and cheetah print...

What's your favorite part of the season?

An Entry Way Update

Yesterday I worked with a client that just recently moved into a new home. She has a gorgeous foyer that was a blank slate and screaming for some warmth and personality. You can see she already had a table that fit the area perfectly, but she just didn't know how to style it. Does that ever happen to you? Do you find yourself staring at the area over and over again not knowing even where to begin?

We talked several times and discovered her love for decorating for the holidays. She's really into fall and wanted neutral pieces that can transition through each season.

Here's how the space was transformed! We used 2 art pieces that she had sitting in a pile and they instantly added a spectrum of warm tones. I stuck to a neutral lamp with a burlap shade to add texture. The area needed lighting and it will be so cozy at night!

We used a few frames to keep the area personal, and a golden vase with branches to add height and a natural element.

The white pumpkin and acorn tray will transition through fall, then she can easily replace them with pieces for Christmas. I suggested adding a few decorative trees, a vessel filled with ornaments, or even a few metallic items to add some sparkle. She can also trade out the branches for some with cranberries.  A few minor changes and she's set for another holiday season.

Do you keep the holidays in mind when styling a space? Do you prefer neutral pieces that can transition or do you change up the whole area each season?

Autumn Essentials

How cute is this free printable?! I'm going to print it here and toss into a gold frame to add to my fall decor around the home!

The only thing missing from this essential list is college football and animal print!

What tops the list of your autumn essentials?

Fall on My Mind

Do you think it's too early to fill my porch with pumpkins? I mean, it is just a little less than a month until the official start of Autumn.

I have an empty, white wagon just sitting on my porch waiting to be outfitted for fall, but I'm afraid it needs to sit just a bit longer! We don't want mushy pumpkins! I've got big plans for the wagon though!

This screams fall! Vermont please take me away! Have you ever seen anything so gorgeous? We definitely don't get anything this beautiful in Texas, but I will take the changing colors of our leaves instead of dry wilted flowers like we have now in this heat!

Who doesn't love pumpkin during the fall months? This french toast looks divine and I'm on pins and needles waiting for Starbucks to bring back their Pumpkin Spiced Lattes! Aren't you?!

Thinking about fall reminds me that we need to start planning little miss things Halloween costume. How stinkin' cute is this candy corn outfit? I showed it to A and she loved it of course because it's candy! We already picked up a candy cane shirt from Gap over the weekend so now I'm on a mission to diy the rest of the costume or find the pieces at least for less!

Are you getting ready for the change of seasons? What do you look forward to most about fall?

My Fall Wardrobe

So, what am I going to be wearing this fall you ask? Well, while I'm still toting around a baby in my belly I'll stick to tights, long sweaters, lots and lots of black, and my GAP skinny maternity jeans. After baby gets here, then I'll be switching it up for sure!

It's such a liberating feeling to fit back into your pre baby clothes! I can't wait for non stretchy pants and normal waistbands! I picked up some items from my favorite sale, The Nordstrom Anniversary sale that I can't wait to wear when the weather is finally cool!

I'm not big on sweaters with bold prints or animals, but I did pick up this novelty sweater to throw into the solid mix. It can be my Bambi sweater! Wouldn't it be cute paired with these leopard print Ugg flats I picked up? I'd also throw on one of these Michael Kors hinged bracelets. I picked one up in orange and gold.

This reverse collar blouse is a great essential piece that I can throw on under a cardigan, or jacket. The color is so vibrant and fresh too! It would pair perfectly under a quilted leather bomber jacket as well!

For casual days this Zella hoodie will be comfy and warm! Also, got these Zella move pants. I'm obsessed with this brand which is Nordstrom's activewear brand. The prices are so reasonable!

My favorite item during fall and winter is a good pair of riding boots. I'm dying to put on these Melissa Frye boots when the season finally changes!

What did you pick up at The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale? Are you ready for fall like I am?

Fall Decor

The feedback from yesterday's Yay or Nay was all very similar. Most everyone likes snake skin in small doses except for the few that are terrified by snakes and can't stand even the littlest bit. I actually don't blame them. Snakes are so gross, but I do like it on shoes, or a tray. Anything larger than a tray I find quite creepy. Who would or could ever sit in a snakeskin chair? It would make my skin crawl!

Ok, so on to my fall decor. The front entry table had a Halloween vignette, so know we have moved on to a fall vignette. I dug around in my cabinets and decor closet to find items to use. Most often than none, if we shop our own homes we are surprised by what we can come up with and not have to purchase new items. Here it is:

Pumpkin thief! I think she's smelling it?

Baby A took the pumpkin from the bottom shelf and replaced it with herself!

Is your home decked out in fall decor yet? I like to keep mine pretty simple and only in the entry and dining room. Christmas is another story though! I like to go all out! I am working on the fall dining room table and will share it after a couple tweaks.

Fall Front Porch

There was one last project on my agenda and that was to make a large burlap bow for my wreath. Now, if you have ever tried working with cut burlap, then you know thats more like wishful thinking. The stinkin' stuff just pulls apart and makes a huge mess. Urgh! So in the end I got a bow about half the size as intended. Oh well. It will suffice. If that's the only project that went a wry, then I'd say the porch turned out pretty successful. Here it is in all its festiveness:

Fall is Here..

Fall has arrived with cool temps and a tad bit of rain this last week. I love the changing colors in nature, dressing in layers, decorating for the season, and toting a hot drink in my hand. (Starbucks?!)

The Pumpkin Spice Latte is one of my fall faves at Starbucks. I always get it with whip cream on top too! Who cares that it has 300 calories and 11grams of fat for a tall? I burn that in like 30 minutes of chasing Baby A around! Ha! And, just in case I don't burn it off, then there are always long shirts to cover up muffin top, right!

Here are some things that have inspired me and a few creative ideas for this season.

Mixing patterns and layering completes this stylish look.

These pumpkin bars with creme cheese frosting look divine!

Easy fall wreath idea to spruce up the porch. You can't go wrong with pumpkins, moss, and burlap. Or, even a black door!

Spray painted pumpkins...

Filled lanterns,

A gorgeous tablescape,

And fun crafts for the little ones in our lives.
