Damaged Goods

Remember this table from Home Decorators I was planning on ordering for the gameroom?

Yep, it arrived! I carried each metal piece up our tall flight of stairs, then carried the top and bottom solid wood pieces that weighed a ton up the very tall flight of stairs, and stared in disbelief! DAMAGED! The same corner on the top and bottom pieces was basically ripped off. Good job UPS for damaging in transit! So, back downstairs it went and sat and sat and sat. Finally after several more phone calls UPS arrived to return it.

now what you ask? I searched for a different option and found this:

I ordered this Safavieh table from Target knowing it could easily be returned if there were issues. And yes there were issues! DAMAGED...chunks of wood and missing paint in several areas. And, just fyi, the color description says cream online when in fact the table is dark gray!

I really like the look so I ordered another one and a chair showed up instead! Are you kidding me? Now, I'm waiting for another table to arrive! Thankfully UPS promptly picked up the chair! We shall see if a table comes this time. 4th time is a charm right?!

Game Room Updates

This is a small area of our game room which has always been the dumping ground for all unused or leftover furniture and decor. I've finally decided to revamp the space with a fresh color palette and vibe!

I restyled this console last week and added a new pair of mercury glass lamps which helps fill out the large wall. I also grabbed the frame and coral from my decor closet and the empty glass hurricane which is now filled with rocks, moss, and greenery! Check off this spot! One area complete!

Ok, so moving on! I currently have a black and white striped rug which I love, but it doesn't work with the direction I'm headed.

I'm switching to blues and yellows so I ordered this new aqua rug today!

I love a good herringbone pattern! Plus, you can't beat the Memorial Day sales going on right now!

This fabric is being used for 2 throw pillows on the sofa. I'll use my current yellow trellis pillow then add another new print!

Would love to replace the 2 gray Ikea tables with this hefty piece! The gray tables were a quick fix and have worked up until now, but I'm kind of concerned with the extra sharp edges on them and the kiddos playing upstairs! Hopefully Home Decorators will have a sale here soon and I can order this piece!

Last, I need to decide on a fabric for new drapery. Currently I have cream Duipioni Silk drapes from Pottery Barn that work, but are boring! Stay tuned and see what I pick. I'm thinking navy!

Guest Bathroom Reveal

Our guest bathroom has been finished for a while, but of course client projects take precedence and I kept putting off photographing the space.
It's such a small space off the upstairs hallway, so it was kind of hard to shoot. There is no natural light, but the images came out pretty true looking.

The walls are painted Benjamin Moore Iron Mountain. I used what I had around the house to style the space except for adding a new shelf, towels, and artwork. I found all those pieces at Home Goods! I also purchased the bird artwork from Target. I kept eyeing them but didn't have a reason or need for them until the bathroom was complete. I knew they would fit in perfectly!

To give you an idea of the transformation, here's the before shot:

I went from light and airy to dark and dramatic! I couldn't be happier with the outcome! I'm pretty much obsessed with the dark paint!

New Wreath

A new month means a new wreath!

I purchased the wreath from the craft store for $5 and wrapped it with burlap ribbon that I had leftover from last Easter. I hot glued the beginning and the end piece.  The mdf letter I painted red, then attached to the wreath with heart ribbon that I looped through.

The whole project took about 30 minutes and cost less than $10.
I'd say this was another successful diy project!

A few more additions and the porch will be Valentines ready!

Around My Home

Lately, I've been moving things around and restyling areas of my home since all the holiday decor is gone! I wanted a fresh look for 2014. Here's a peek into my favorite spaces!

My nightstand got a new, mirrored jewelry box! I love the subtle color it adds!

I added a pop of leopard to my entryway. The Fiddle Leaf that was there needed more sunshine!

My perfume and face products are now corralled in this acrylic tray from The Container Store.

When the new sofa came the tray on the coffee table got a fresh feel including a boxwood! You can never have too much greenery!

I'm kind of obsessed with this horse statue! I love pretty much anything from Three Hands! You'll notice the family pictures too. Those are our first family photos of 4! I smile every time I walk by this area.

Do you often restyle spaces in your home? If you get bored with things, just shop your own home and create a whole new look by moving things around!

The New Sofa

If you follow me on Instagram, which you totally should, then you saw this sneak peek of our new sofa!

After months and months of shopping we finally settled on this Charleston sofa from Z Gallerie.

It combined everything I wanted which was tufting, nailhead trim, comfort, dark color options, and a reasonable price. It also had to be kid friendly! I know it doesn't seem kid friendly, but the fabric was treated and I've already easily gotten a stain or two out very easily.

I'll say when it first arrived it was larger than I thought it would be! I did see it on the showroom floor, but compared to the exiting sofa and current chairs, it's definitely grand! It took me a few weeks to adjust, but now I'm totally in love with what a statement it makes in the space!

Next week I'll have a full living room reveal. It's been a while since I showed our living room and there are some changes!

Have a great weekend and come back next week!

My Holiday Home {The Mantle}

"The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, in hope that St.Nick soon would be here!"

It only took me a handful of trips to Target to remember the command hooks to hang my stockings and complete the mantle decor. My inspiration this year was based on a black, gold, and green scheme. The mantle was already styled  in black and white so I stuck with the existing decor. I added green balls and the boxwood wreath along with new stockings I scored at Marshalls.

The green ribbon adds a finishing touch to the gold deer.

I'm sure you have seen a similar idea on Pinterest.  A few LED stems from Target and faux branches completely transformed this basket. So simple, but high impact! At night the living room is so cozy now with the fireplace and lights from the tree and hearth! This will definitely be the last area to get undecorated after the holidays!

My Holiday Home {The Entry}

Have you noticed that I'm a little late at posting my holiday home this year? No, that can't be because I have a newborn!

To be completely honest, I wasn't sure I would even attempt trying to decorate for Christmas, but who am I kidding? I absolutely love the holiday season and my 3 year old is so excited for the Christmas! She had such a blast helping me pull out all the decor and especially hang ornaments on the tree!

This year things are a bit simple and I used what was on hand instead of trying to totally recreate the wheel! There are a mix of metals and soft colors as well as some natural elements and lots of greenery!

What I love most is definitely displaying all the cards we receive! It's so exciting to get new cards in the mail and see all the smiling faces of our friends and family! Since my display is small, I'm working on a new way to show them off. The ice however has put a damper on my spray painting. Just 1 more coat of gold and I'll show you the new display!

Nursery Reveal

Last week I teased you with a shot from our little girl's nursery I've been working on for the last 6 months! Most of it was complete, except for the chandelier which was just installed a few weeks ago delaying the big reveal. I just couldn't make up my mind on the light, and then I found the perfect one that spoke to me!

So, without further or do I give you Baby Harper's nursery!

I started out with a vision of corals and aquas in mind and it turned out that what I really envisioned was a soft palette of neutrals, grays, and hints of color!

I'm so happy with how the room slowly evolved over time into a space I love! I hope Baby Harper enjoys it too!

Nursery Tease

The chandelier is hung and the pictures are being edited while baby "H" finishes baking! I'll have the nursery reveal soon! I say soon in case she unexpectedly shows up early! Next week is my goal so stay tuned!!

My Hallo Decor

For Halloween this year I kept it simple and contained to one spot in my home! I wanted to be able to throw it together and quickly take it down on November 1st.  The only piece that took any effort was the gold boo that was a dollar purchase from someone in my neighborhood. It was a funny color and chipped so I brought it back to life with spray paint. You can never go wrong with a golden touch!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

Entryway Updates

Not too long ago I had plans to add sconces and perhaps a pair of x-benches to my entryway. Well, it didn't happen. I was hoping to find a pair of matching benches or ones I could reupholster, but ran out of luck and patience. Then, my luck officially ran out and so did the inventory of the sconces I wanted! That's when we moved on to plan B! Plan B was there was no plan! Ha!

So, in the meantime I moved the ugly coat rack into the laundry room and stuck a fiddle leaf in it's place to fill the empty spot and add a nice touch of greenery! It also really helped balance the space since I have a chair on the other side. Here's how it previously looked!

Then, poof! I found an amazing set of sea fan art for next to nothing! Voila', I knew the perfect space for them!

They filled the large gaps I needed them to while adding just a touch of personality and color. Plus, the black frames pop against the bland beige walls. I'm thinking now the sconces wouldn't have even shown up that well! Blessing in disguise I guess.

I also moved my large clam shell to the entry and added some moss and succulents to it! I'm really enjoying this space now! There are only a few touches of color amongst the neutrals and it flows really well with the adjacent spaces.

Sometimes, simple is better!!

Art Supply Organization

As a mom of a creative little girl, I'm constantly cleaning up and corralling crayons, markers, pencils, stickers, etc. I like for the supplies to be accessible for her to create as she pleases, but also stored easily when she's finished.

I have mason jars in the pantry left over from a baby shower so I thought why not put them to good use! I grabbed 2 of them and sprayed the lids with black chalkboard paint I had in the garage. After they dried, I wrote on the lids, and filled them with some of her supplies.

Voila'!! Cute storage containers in about 20 minutes and no more scattered crayons or colored pencils!

Art Update

These 2 pieces of art have been rotating around my home and no matter where I put them, the gold finish on the frame was just too over powering. So, naturally I took things into my own hands and gave them a new look.

I whipped out my Rub n' Buff and went to work until my fingers were metallic and stiff! First, I coated them in Silver Leaf, then went over them in Gold Leaf to give the perfect golden finish.

You can see the left one here after I finished and the brighter gold on the right.

And, here they are in their new home, the dining room! So glad I tackled this mini project instead of getting rid of the prints!

Are you a Rub n' Buff fan?
