Makeover Monday {Just a Touch of Gray}

It's a makeover kind of Monday. I hope everyone had a fun filled weekend and is ready to see what Rachel from Just a Touch of Gray has in store for us. If you haven't checked out her blog and home tour be sure you do so immediately (after reading her posts of course). She has great style and her home is elegant and sophisticated. Take it away Rachel.

Hi there! I'm Rachel Gray from {Just a Touch of Gray} and I'm so excited to be guest posting in Megan's Makeover Monday series! Today I'm going to share with you our living room makeover. You see hubs and I bought a fixer upper last summer... a 1960 ranch to be exact. We have been dedicated to renovating and decorating "one room at a time", hence my tagline. We first laid a good foundation by having the floors refinished (and stained darker), changing out all interior doors, as well as ripping out and replacing all the baseboards, window trim, door trim, etc. That in itself instantly (well after a lot of work) launched our little ranch more into the 21st century.

Here is what we started with...

Floors patched and sanded...

Ta-dah! Just ignore the clashing wood tones for a sec and look at those floors!!!

Then it was time to do something about those paneled walls. I mean at this point you'd think we lived in a cabin in the mountains! We wanted needed to change that ASAP, but wanted to try something a little different. Since our paneling is real wood (not that fake paneling you see sometimes) we wanted to keep the integrity of the wood but lighten the room at the same time. Our solution... a white wash.

You can read more about the white wash process {here}

Then is was on to the fun part... decorating. This was the first time hubs and I got to decorate and furnish a room from start to finish (no hand me down furniture here). We had such a great time make this room 100% us. So without further adieu....

AFTER
