Did you have a nice and relaxing weekend? I was able to cross items off my to-do list and enjoy the cool, fall weather with the family.
I decided to take a break from a typical Makeover Monday to show you a makeover I did of my own- the guest bedroom night stands!
Our guest bedroom was in desperate need of a makeover. It holds the remains of my hubby's single life which is a less than feminine bedroom set. Yes, it's a full set! A set, that does not fit my taste or style. I have endured this furniture for over 5 years now and since my hubby isn't going anywhere, it's time the furniture does. I started with the night stands...
I purchased the Rast night stands from IKEA and gave them a makeover. At $34.99 I couldn't beat it.
I'm sure you have seen Aubrey and Lindsay's version by now or how Shelli at A La Mode took what was supposed to be the short route with spray paint. Amen for trying girl! They look awesome even if it did take 10 cans!
I took a slightly different route and skipped staining the top and sides and went all white. Well, Chantilly Lace from Benjamin Moore to be exact. Our guest bedroom will eventually transform to a nursery someday, and these will go to Baby A's big girl room. I knew the all white would work best in that situation.
Here they are after priming with Zinsser Oil Based Primer. I chose to put them together completely then prime and paint. It was fairly easy too. After painting I attached the new gold pulls ordered from Lee Valley Tools.
I'm so pleased with how they turned out even if I did strain some unused muscles moving them upstairs at 11 p.m. Lets just say that having them complete is a fresh start for the guest room. They completely change the overall feel of the space. Now, if only I can sneak the old night stands into the garage sale next weekend and a dresser or 2. Hubby might notice the bed missing though!
One more project done and a slightly shorter to-do list:
1. Paint the hall bath Navy
2. Paint the laundry room (color to be decided) Greige?
3. Paint guest room a shade of blue. Maybe Silver Sage?
4. Paint the master bath. I'm asking myself, "Why did we not do it when we moved in?"
5. Paint console table in game room white
6. Paint chair white in guest room
9. Decide on new design plan for dining room.
10. Order fabric for guest room curtains.
11. Win the lottery so I can pay for all of this.
