Valentine's Yarn Wreath

February is here! Can you believe it? I feel like we just celebrated Christmas and now Valentine's Day is quickly approaching. Only 14 days away! That's nuts. I'm really falling under this love spell and I've been busy crafting and dressing up the entry in red, white, and pink. Such a fun day! Maybe it's because I love the color combo so much.

So, by now I'm sure you have seen all the yarn wreaths floating around Pinterest. I thought I'd create my own version instead of continuing to pin them. I picked up the foam ring, 2 colors of yarn, and felt rosettes from Hobby Lobby. $10 later I was out the door and headed home to tackle this project.

I'd like to tell you that I was very mathematical and measured off the sections so I would properly know when to stop wrapping each color, but I didn't. I used my own version of math! It's called winging it. I also did some sort of measuring with my fingers. Yep, I know that will be hard to follow. You probably want to just take the extra time and measure.

I attached the first piece with hot glue, then wrapped while pulling the yarn very tightly and making sure there were no gaps. When I ended a color the hot glue secured it in place again. This continued the entire length of "Something Borrowed". Great chick flick by the way.
After it was completely covered in yarn I glued on the rosettes and hung it with ribbon. Voila'!

I love the way it turned out and the fact that it was inexpensive!

So, are you busy with Valentine's projects? Are you loving the holiday like I am?

  3. These are very time consuming. I did one like this for Christmas and it took me almost two hours to make it but I had my daughter "helping" me. I think I might give it a try again for Spring. It looks great and I love the colors!
