Bench Transformation

Look at her. Isn't she a beauty?! For a little bit of sweat, dirt, and digging, you too can probably own a similar bench. All you need to do is find a flea market and get ready to bargain. I'm pretty sure the bench was $15 and I negotiated until I got it for $8. Not bad huh?!

This old pink bench needed a lot of TLC. I started off by removing the cushion and the decade old fabric. Then, I recovered the cushion in one of my new favorite fabrics that I ordered from Premier Fabrics.

Gotcha Fabric in Storm
Once the cushion was off I sanded down the entire bench which took FOREVER! I kept finding residual pink!

Once sanded it got a good wipe down then primed with my go to Rust-Oleum primer which gives  amazing coverage.

Can you tell that I was painting at night in a field? Yep, the empty lot across the street from us serves as my painting spot. I hope no one builds there any time soon or I'll have to relocate and that will just be plain inconvenient!

My primer sat overnight to dry before I finished the bench off with Rust-Oleum's Heirloom White. It's a classic and always a safe bet. I could have gone with a pop of color instead, but I'm not certain if the bench will stay in this spot. I wanted to make sure it stayed versatile in case for when it gets relocated in my home.

Here's my new and improved bench occupying a space under the stairs in my home with a cute new piece of artwork hanging above. All I need now is a cute throw pillow and something kid friendly and indestructible to go next to the bench. (yeah, right)

My cute new print was ordered off Etsy from Lily Gene Prints. You can't see it very well, but there's a stamp with our wedding date and a heart over Austin, Tx where we were married. Our 4 year anniversary is coming up, so I thought this was a cute way to celebrate and it's a meaningful piece of artwork.
