The Shops at Target

Have you been to Target this week and seen the new boutique style shops?

I was there today and was quite pleased with them:
The Webster
Cos Bar
Polka Dog Bakery
Privet House
The Candy Store

The top 2 shops in my opinion are The Webster and Privet House, although I did pick up Lily some all natural dog snacks from Polka Dog.

Here's a peak at what I saw:

I picked up a small coral candle which is a total diy I'm adding to my list.

Loved the dress, but they didn't have my size so I'm ordering one. Got the cardi though.

Great dishwasher safe pieces. We desperately needed plastic plates and bowls so I picked up a few to add some pizazz to my cupboards. They are great for outdoor use too!

These trays were also really fun!

The candy was so so. I thought the lollipops were cute. They also had some containers filled with candy that would make great gifts.

This was no Missoni trip, but nice to see some new, fresh items at Target.

Plus, did you hear Nate Berkus has a line coming out at Target on October 21st? I'm guessing it could be crazy! I'll be there nice and early for sure!!

Healthy Eating

The time has come to get my booty into shape before Summer. Here in Texas swim suit season has already hit. Let me just tell you that trying on suits will really get a girl motivated to get fit. Since loosing weight and staying healthy is 80% diet, that's where I've decided to start. My goal is to eat really well during the week and drink a ton of water, then splurge a little on the weekends and still enjoy a cold beverage if I choose. It's all about moderation!
Yesterday, Mom, "A", and I hit the store ready to load the cart with healthy foods.

Here's what we came home with minus some very addicting blueberry Eggos.

I'm excited to try these bars since I enjoy the KIND granola. It's Gluten free for anyone with celiac's disease looking for a yummy granola.

I'm a total water gal, but I decided to mix it up a bit and try Crystal Light for a little added flavor once in a while. I'm really hoping it tastes as refreshing as the Simply brand Raspberry Lemonade! Wishful thinking I'm sure.

These are my favorite chips ever! "A" even digs them! I've been making a lot of avocado salsa to eat them with or they are great plain too.

Here's a list of foods I'm eating these days:
  • Banana with honey and cinnamon sprinkle
  • Chicken or turkey sandwich on wheat sandwich thins with mustard
  • Avocado Salsa
  • Apple and Organic fresh ground peanut butter
  • Cheese sticks and Everything pretzel crisps
  • Grilled chicken with the Avocado salsa on top
  • Yogurt with KIND granola
  • Lots of fresh fruits and veggies
My main goal is to really cut down on carbs, and unhealthy snacking. Plus, I've limited myself to only 1 snow cone a week. Nothing like drinking ice and sugar on a hot day!

If you read the blog Bryn Alexandra, then you might have noticed she started a food blog, 80percenthealthy to track her eating habits and get healthy. She has some great ideas for eating on the run. I've even gotten some of my ideas from her. The bean burrito recipe she uses looks divine! I can't wait to try it!

Tonight we are trying her shrimp tostada recipe with black beans, and guacamole. You can follow me on Instagram to see more yummy foods!

H's Nursery Progress

Our weekend flew by of course, but not before making some progress on Hunter's nursery. We arrived Friday afternoon and immediately started clearing out my brother's then office. Off to the paint store we went to pick out a paint color and gather supplies to transform the room while my brother stayed behind and put the crib together that had literally just arrived. Too bad the springs were broken so we couldn't fully assemble it.

Here's the bedding we scored a great deal on!

Painting was a group effort that night after we had a blast at Pappadeaux and full bellies. The next morning "A" and I got up at 7:30 and started cracking. We made a ton of progress that morning and surprised Aunt Heidi when she woke up. Here's what she saw:

The dresser will go on this wall with the items currently sitting on the floor. There's the adorable elephant lamp I spoke of too. All it needs is a little ribbon detail.
We are also considering some tree decals on this large wall flanking the dresser.

We originally chose an upholstered glider on the design board, but space is limited so we decided it would be more sentimental and fitting to use my grandparent's rocker that they used to rock my dad and his siblings. My brother is going to refinish it in a cream color.
We also worked on refinishing a night stand that goes next to the closet on the back wall you can't see. It was actually outside drying when we left yesterday.
We will head back to Houston in the next month or 2 to finish things up and make all the final touches. At least for now, it looks like a babies nursery and most of the big tasks are behind us. Here's what's left to do:
  • Window covering
  • Drapery
  • Rug
  • Decals
  • Dresser/style/organize
  • Style night stand
  • Remianing Art (have it and forgot to take it) :(
  • Letters above bed

Can't wait to finish up and share the rest with you all!

Road Trip

While you read this, we are headed South on a road trip to my brother and sister in laws. The time has come for Hunter's nursery to in sue. The car is packed to the hilt and we indeed look like the Griswolds. Lets just say Grammy went overboard buying for Hunter. You name it, we've got it packed in the car. Bathtub, baby products, blankets, toys, lamp, books, bottles, pacis, piggybank, etc. You get the hint! He's spoiled and he's not even here yet. We are beyond excited to set up his room and count down the days until his arrival.

I'll be back on Monday to show you progress of the nursery.

HAPPY WEEKEND!

Home Goods Finds

Yesterday I made a quick trip to Home Goods and let me just say it was a 2 cart kind of day. Luckily, I found many of the items I was on the hunt for. Here's some of the happiness I spotted.

Loved this neutral bench with nail head trip. Perfect for an entry way or end of a bed.

This x bench was so rich looking in gray velvet.

I purchased these for our casa. We have been in desperate need for another set and I was holding out to find these.

There were a ton of bright outdoor accessories...

Lily scored a new bed. I didn't know quite how filthy her old one was until I hauled it out. I love that this one has a removable cover.

Ah, chevron. I'm kind of sad I left this at the store.

I'm heading back today to return a few things that didn't work out for a client and see what else they got in overnight. I'm sure more goodness awaits. Maybe the throw is still there?!

To see what I'm up to you can follow me on Instagram.

Random Thoughts

Sorry for the randomness today. Last night I worked late, then had to grab paint for a client's house for today. And, finally got to write this post after the munchkin crashed around 10pm. So, here's what's been going on with me lately.

1. Last weekend was the infamous Tory Borch friends and family sale. By the time we arrived Saturday they were somewhat picked over and the web was out of many items like this handbag that I still have my eye on.

I did however come home with a couple pairs of shoes. 1 Eddie ballett flat to be exact and a neutral Thora sandal. My feet are happy!

They are actually a lot more coral in person.

2. Painting is occurring at a client's home today. After 12 plus samples we have decided on colors. I highly recommend sample containers! Lighting can be very tricky and the color can turn out quite different than the sample.

Antique Jade

Can't wait to see how it turns out. I'm thrilled my client is brave and going dark for the powder bath.

Soft Jazz

3. Got this cute little bowl at Anthropologie on Saturday after hitting up Tory. Mom and I did some fun birthday damage in Highland Park Village and enjoyed the beautiful outdoor shopping.

It's perfect for my new pieces!

4. Finalizing nursery plans with my brother and his wife. The crib and dresser were ordered yesterday so they probably won't arrive before Saturday, but we've got super cute accessories to take with us. We found a lamp at Home Goods very similar to this giraffe lamp. Can't wait to show you pics of our progress this weekend after we paint, start hanging wall decor, and get Hunter's abode organized!

5. Hit up World Market  and finally picked up a pair of these for my back porch.

The colors are so vibrant and fun. They go great with my new Target outdoor accessories I picked up a while back. (You can see them in the background. )

Also saw this guy and couldn't resist.
Will be great for holding snacks at a party or even paper clips for my desk.

So, that's all the fun being had around here folks! Yes, I just said folks. That's the Texan in me.
HAPPY HUMP DAY!

My Beauty Picks

Are you a product junkie like I am? There's no denying my love for beauty and skin care products. Just take a look here. My drawers needed organizing because they were so jam packed.
Now that I am in my 20's 30's, skin care has become more important to me and I now pay more attention to what I put on my face and body for that fact. I rounded up some products that I use daily and find well worth the money.
The good news is that most of these products are drug store brands except for my Chanel Lip Glossimer that I don't leave home without or my new Chanel Vitalumiere foundation that gives my face a flawless look without feeling greasy or caked on.
Most importantly, with skin cancer on the rise, I make sure to apply sun screen daily! Nuetrogena has always been my go to brand because it doesn't clog my pores.
My Maybelline gel liner is a new fave. I used to purchase a similar product from Bobbi Brown, but disliked the price and how it dried out pretty quickly. You cannot beat this liner for $7 or their mascaras.
Oil of Olay might remind you of your grandma, but it really is comparable to department store brands for half the price. The Pro X line has really made a difference on my complexion. Plus, it smells really good!
I could go on and on about how much I love my products, but I'll let you try them out and judge for yourself.

Do you have a favorite product you'd like to share with us?
