A Dark Bathroom

So I have this urge to paint something dark blue, almost black. I actually considered black, but when I asked my friend Colleen she looked at me like I had gone off the deep end. She said my name in one of those stern kinds of ways that my mom would talk to me in. It really made me question my decision! Well, for a moment at least.

Don't you want to know which room I want to paint? Well, my only options are the guest room (not redoing it again), laundry room (nope, grey), husband's closet (he would kill me), hall bath downstairs (ding, ding, ding!)

I have settled on a makeover for the downstairs hall bathroom. I'm thinking navy, coral, and a striped shower curtain.

What do you think? Should I just go for it? Actually, should my fabulous painter Nate just go for it? I will not be attempting a dark blue paint job! I might come out looking like a blueberry.

Here's some inspiration that helped me compile my thoughts that are rapidly running through my head.

Doesn't the coral and metallic gold just look amazing against the black?!

The white and gold pop and look so elegant. We all know how much I love starburst mirrors too!

I am in search of a shower curtain that looks like these walls. Love the x benches too, but that's a whole different post.

What do you think? Black or navy? Please share your thoughts on the topic?

  4. Definitely navy & coral with stripes. The black is cool too but I think it's something that can easily go either way if you're not super careful. Navy is more of a classic look, harder to mess up (at least I think so!) especially if you're going with a nautical look. Besides, if you just go with safe choices everywhere you're going to wnd up with a tan house! That's what I did, now I'm going back & changing everything one room at a time!

  5. Thanks for linking to my blog. (I am terribly behind on my blog reading and emails and am just now seeing this.) I don't think you can go wrong either way. Love the dark shades!
