Playroom Design Board

A sweet friend of mine is having a baby girl this summer, which makes 3, so a gender neutral playroom is in order for their family. We all want a space where our kids can retreat to make a mess to their little heart's content. This new space will be in what was the dining room, which opens up to the main hallway. We knew organization and tidiness was in order to hide the clutter and millions of toys. Here's what we brainstormed together on the premise of using primary colors.

We had a successful IKEA trip the other day where we picked up most of the items except the Expedit which they were out of. The new high gloss gray is a nice alternative to the white I usually gravitate towards.

The chevron rug was 60% off over the weekend (score) so it should arrive in the next week, and the room is being painted Friday. We hope to make some progress over the weekend and next week. I'll of course share the progress with you.

This is a race against the baby clock- K arrives in 8 weeks or less and Mama will need a place for the boys to escape to for her sanity!

A Farm Trip

Over the weekend we ventured to R&C Dairy and Farmstead in Collinsville to do a little berry picking and pick up some fresh produce. You can't get any better than straight from farm to table. "A" was digging the berry picking. She had fruit juice smeared all over her face and hands. The orange bucket also never left her side. Determination was her game.
After the picking we explored some more and found some animals. "A" loved the opportunity to see the animals in real life that she sees in books. There were goats, cows, chickens, and even exotic birds that talked to her.
Overall it was a great learning experience for her and we got some amazing food!

Weekend Recap

Our 3 day weekend was packed full of fun. First we hit up IKEA for a little shopping. "A" found so many things she thinks she needs. Saturday we headed to a farm to pick berries and pick up some locally grown produce. There were also a lot of animals that "A" got to see in person for the first time. (farm pics to come)
Sunday we joined our new church then enjoyed the outdoors. Yesterday was more fun in the sun with friends. "A"'s hot pink swimsuit is so stink in' cute !
Hope your weekend was a blast too!

Happy Memorial Day

Today we are remembering those who have served our country, or are currently serving our country!

We are celebrating our freedoms with friends poolside. It's a great day to soak up the sun, and enjoy some BBQ.

In celebration of today, here's a few interiors that are red, white, and blue done right!

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!

Finally, My Own Office

I am beyond thrilled that I finally have my own office. No more sharing the space as a guest bedroom like it was before. Last week I took it upon myself to disassemble the bed and move it on out. That made plenty of space for the whoopsie kitchen table that is now a perfect desk.
Our elliptical also moved into my office and out of the other guest bedroom, but it's not nearly the eye sore you would imagine. It kind of blends in with the dark drapes and I actually use it more now since I can watch TV.
After transforming my black frames with gold paint along with a few other accessories, I'm loving my personal space! (I think I need a few more frames for the back wall too.)

Coffee is a must! My print is from Made By Girl.

I love my chair prints that Danielle Oakey graciously made and shared.

Love print is also from Made by Girl!

I still haven't quite figured out this wall with the TV. The desk will be refinished for "A's" big girl room so I need to replace it with a new piece. The chair will also go back downstairs after we cut the kitchen table down.
For now, it's cozy and a space to escape to for some piece and quiet.

A Gold Touch

If you are old, dull, or boring and you live at my house, then watch out because you will probably get spray painted. Gold to be exact. Lately, everything has gone Liberace around here. I just love how a piece or 2 of gold adds enough pizazz and transforms the feel of a space. Here are some pieces that have been given new life from my spray happy finger.

My office got most of the gold touches as you can probably tell. That gives you a little sneak peek, but you will have to come back tomorrow for the full office reveal. The space is so cozy now that my husband thinks he should office in there now! Um, wrong!! Wishful thinking though on his part! Glad he likes it!

A Girly Sprinkle

Our girly affair over the weekend was a huge success. The sprinkle for 3 lovely ladies in our neighborhood was so much fun! There was no shortage of pink and frills. And, it wouldn't have been possible without 3 other ladies helping me out. We even managed to get our nails Shellaced during the preparation since my friend is now a nail pro! All in all, a busy, but fun filled weekend!

Random Thoughts this Friday

I have a really busy day ahead so here are some random thoughts for this Friday.

Party prep is in full swing. Hence the fact why I have a huge to-do list today. Myself and some other lovely ladies are throwing a sprinkle tomorrow for 3 hot mamas that all have boys now and are all due with baby girls later this summer! They are literally hot mamas in more than one way. I was mega preggo in the summer so I now how they feel! Tomorrow night will be a blast! Of course I'll share pics next week.

While setting up in the dining room I realized some little monkey had been playing in the lemons.

Picked up some new products I spotted in a magazine to try. Olay is my go to drug store brand, so I was excited to see a new product that's going to make all my wrinkles disappear. Ha! It's an age-defying day cream+serum. The eye cream also founds its way into my cart and I tried it last night. Use very sparingly. A lot goes a long way I learned.
And, can't forget the Maybelline Baby Lips. It's seriously so moisturizing and it has an spf to protect my lips from the scorcher above. This morning my lips are still feeling soft. No lie! If Maybelline wants to send me all of them to try I'd be a happy girl!

These neon pink Kate spade gumdrop studs had been on my radar for a long time. I went to Nordstrom one weekend to purchase them, only to find out they didn't carry the pink, so I bought the orange ones. Hubby gave me some money to shop for Mother's day, so I ordered these. Love them! They are just bright enough that they show up even if my hair is down.

This is the cake I'm envisioning for "A's" 2nd birthday extravaganza that's occurring on June 30th. My very talented friend Melissa makes the cakes. She's also making cookies for our Sprinkle this weekend so I'm taking this design to her. They are the best cakes ever! If you live in the Plano/Frisco area I'll give you her info!

So, how about that for randomness!

HAPPY FRIDAY! ANY BIG PLANS?
