Online Shopping Finds

Do you ever have those days where you feel like doing nothing except sitting in front of the computer browsing the web and seeing how fast you can deplete your account? I do! It's a dangerous thing that ol' world wide web. I don't really deplete my account because that would be kind of depressing, but it's fun to wish!
I made some great finds while browsing. And brace yourself, some are really great! You are going to want some of these things like I do. I wish the magic shopping fairy would just drop them off.

New Chairs (Well kind of)

Did everyone have a good weekend? We sure did! Baby A had breakfast with Daddy yesterday morning which means mommy got to sleep in and I was awakened with Starbucks in bed! That was just what I needed from my 2 favorite people.
Over the weekend I was also productive and recovered my kitchen table chairs. Here's what the kitchen looked like before I started.

As you can see, the fabric was doing nothing for the space. The table, chairs, cushions, floors, and cabinets are all dark, so my goal was to lighten things up a bit. I had purchased this Dwell Studio fabric off of Fabric.com several months ago when I ordered other fabric , but had too many other projects going on to add another to my list. Alas, I can say they are done! It was very easy to do and only took about an hour for all 4. Here's the simple steps I followed:

1. Unscrew the cushion from the chair
2. Lay the cushion on the fabric upside down so the pattern is centered
3. Cut your fabric pieces
3. Recenter the cushion upside down and start stapling.
(Make sure to pull the fabric tight so you don't have creases)
4. Screw the cushion back into place when finished
5. Scotch Guard your cushions to protect against stains

This is a quick way to change up any chair in your home that has a removable cushion. Plus, it's a fun way to add pattern to a space. You can see that my cushions are actually noticeable now instead of blending in with the table. Plus, I'm really enjoying the brightness they add. For now, they are a great fix until we eventually purchase something different.

Last week I also created a gallery wall in the corner. Stay tuned for more on that.

So what do you think of the "kind of new" chairs? Have you recovered cushions for a quick fix?

I'm going to spend the weekend doing...things on the dreaded list. Hopefully, I can scribble through some things before the weekend passes me by. Make yours a productive one!

Brass is Definitely Back

Brass made a strong comeback last year. I hope it's here to stay a while because I am loving the sophisticated feel of this finish.

This classic style kitchen is home to Mark Badgley and James Mischka of the fashion empire Badgley Mischka. They have great taste all around!

So, I  must ask... are you bringing the brass back in your home? Wow, trying saying that fast 10 times!

Our Updated Master

I shared our master bedroom with you during our home tour, but many changes have occurred since then. We added new bedding including shams from Pottery Barn and I finally purchased a white lacquer console table that serves as my vanity. The ghost chair got moved from the office and I love it in this space. I sit there everyday and believe it or not, it's so comfy! Who knew?
You can also see from looking back at my home tour that I restyled the night stands and dresser. I'm happy with the fresh look and I enjoy seeing my baubles and having my fragrances at reach. I find it easy to use my accessories and just add cute bowls, and trays to dress them up.

Neon Hues

Have you noticed that interior design is often inspired by recent fashion trends? Some of those trends need to stay on the runway, while others have effortlessly made their way into homes like classic lines, bold patterns, rich jewel tones and animal prints.
This spring the runway and ad campaigns have been swirling with neon hues. I'm liking the fashion aspect of hot pink and electric yellow, but I'm not sure on whether or not these tones should grace my home or yours for that fact.

1.  2.  3.  4.

So, are you a neon kind of girl/guy when it comes to your interiors or just your wardrobe? Or, maybe you aren't a neon kind of gal/guy at all.

My New Obsession

These IKEA drapes are so drool worthy. (The pics below don't do them justice) I recently purchased a green pair for our guest bedroom and the navy ones for mom's newly designed breakfast area. They are a cotton-velvet and are thick enough to reduce the amount of incoming sunlight for those days that we just want to snooze! Also, an added bonus is that they are machine washable! I mean, you can't beat the price of 49.99 or 69.99 for the 120 length. IKEA rocks it again! Now, if only I could stay away from there for at least a week.

Here's something else that might have jumped in my cart while I was there too.

It's now in mom's kitchen! I spent the weekend painting the space and finishing the install yesterday. Nothing like waking up on a Friday with a plan and executing it in 3 days. The space looks completely different, elegant, and stylish. And as soon as our canvas arrives to complete the gallery wall, I'll be sharing pics with you.

Green with Envy

Have you jumped on the kelly green bandwagon yet? Our mud room in the making hosts a bit of it. I'm loving these splashes of the color. Drapes in this hue are especially to die for!

So, are you green with envy yet?

Navy is the New Black

Navy is rich, dramatic, and underused in homes. Replace some of your black with navy for a new twist.

Do you prefer black or navy in your home?
