Office Fabric

Do you have a space in your home that is just horrific? For me, it is my husband's office. What drives me nuts is that it is the first room you see when you walk in our front door. This space is lacking personality and color. What it's not lacking is junk, trash, papers on the floor, cords, and more junk. If it were completely up to me the space would have been redesigned about  9 months ago, but it's not all up to me. My husband says that it's the only space (besides the garage) that is his space. Geez, doesn't he remember that he has his own closet?! The point being that he's extremely picky and doesn't want me turning it into a feminine space.

The space is at least painted which is a soft creamy yellow. And the curtain rod has been hanging empty for about 6 months. I also recently purchased a sisal rug for under hubby's desk to replace the dingy rug that's there now.

My first goal is to put the new rug down, then purchase fabric to make curtains because the room is very tall and still echoes somewhat. Since hubby works in there and talks to clients often, then he can't have any echoing and must have cute, colorful curtains to absorb the sound.

Uno problemo is that I can not decide on a fabric to save my life because I like them all! That's where you come in to help me. I want your opinions on which one you like best for 2- 120 length panels. That's a lot of fabric! Here they are:

Choice Number 1
Choice Number 2
Choice Number 3

Choice Number 4 (It's navy, not black)
Option Number 5

Thoughts/opinions please. Do you have another one in mind keeping in the same color palette? I really appreciate your comments so I can get on to ordering it already.

Baby A is 1 Today!

Where has the time gone? This past year has been the most exhilarating and momentous time of our lives. We were blessed with our beautiful Baby A at 11:38 A.M. last year. She was so small and calm. Today she has already grown into a miniature mom by looks and has Dada's personality. She is vibrant, full of life, and keeps us laughing 24-7. We are so blessed to have her and I'm blessed to be able to stay home and laugh and giggle with her daily. She is just the most precious thing I have ever seen and I might even tell her that! ( A LOT) We look forward to many more exciting times with her and a REALLY BIG 1st birthday party with 100's of pictures to come.

Happy Birthday Boogie Girl!! Mommy and Dada Love You!

Summer Staples

Thanks so much to the very fashionable Haley from Cardigan Junkie for stepping in for me today while I'm out of town and sharing her summer staple ideas. When you check out her blog you are sure to leave with many outfit inspirations! Take it away Haley.

Hello!  I’m Haley from Cardigan Junkie, and am happy to be here filling in for Megan today.  I’m a fellow Dallasite and native Texan, so I’ve been dealing with long, hot summers my whole life.  Going outside in 100 degree weather changes the way you approach shopping and getting dressed, so I’m here to share some of my summer staples that I think are a must from Dallas to Detroit:

Light and Airy Dresses
When it’s hot, I want to wear as little as possible without looking trashy.  The key, for me, are sundresses made of breathable fabric that pack a punch of color.

 Non-beachy Sandals
I love my Havaianas as much as the next girl, but my true go-to shoes in the summer are strappy leather sandals that can go anywhere and won’t look like I just left the pool.

 Braids and Buns
When you’re outside and sweating, the last thing you want is your hair sticking to your neck and making you feel worse.  I resort to the ponytail more than I should, but I’m loving all the creative new styles popping up across town that look so much fancier.

I hope you enjoyed my Texan summer style picks, and please stop by and visit me over at Cardigan Junkie!  Thanks again to Megan for hosting me today!

Weekend Wrap-Up

I've seen some great things this week in Blog Land. Here's what caught my eye and I'm so digging!

via Decor Pad
What a serene palette! I'm adoring the soft color on the headboard and the fabo mirror! Me likey!

Via Accessorize and Organize
What a transformation this is! Check out her before pics. Would you believe me if I told you this used to be her laundry area? I love what she has done with the space! It's tranquil and looks like a great space to read a book.

Via Our Seven Dwarfs

Look how delicious these look!! The recipe is simple too! I love my mexican food so I will for sure be making these!

Via The Pear Tree Cottage

Now, what an adorable kids playroom! How fabulous is the green chalkboard? It makes such a statement.  I'm liking how all the toys, etc. have their own hiding space too. So kid friendly!

Via All Things Bright and Beautiful

Turquoise is fabulous anyways, but on nails...I think I might try it. I'll probably wait until after the wedding we are attending this weekend! But, it would complement my dress!

HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A FUN FILLED WEEKEND!!
We are headed to Austin to Lake Travis for a friend's wedding. It's a weekend without our little munchkin! Yippee! I mean, boohoo. I will miss my little Monkey, but it will be a much needed break.

Award

A million thanks to Emily at The Fine House for passing on this award to me. Now, as an award recipient, one rule is that I have to tell you 10 things about myself, then pass on the award to 10 deserving bloggers. Boy, that's hard to pick just 10 because there are so many amazing blogs that I read daily. So first, here goes 10 things about myself....

1. I taught 1st and 2nd grade for 7 years before I decided to be a SAHM to my precious Baby A who turns 1 next week!!

2. I am addicted to TJ Maxx and Home Goods! Duh! Who wouldn't be? It's so bad that I know their shipment schedules and their employees recognize me when I come into the store. I think they should award me as a top shopper with a permanent discount!

3. I once took up golf until my husband and I stopped speaking to one another on the course and started riding in separate carts. Now, my clubs are collecting dust in the attic. Plus, it's just way too hot to play golf in Texas!! Now, he golfs and I blog! Blogging is way cooler on many levels! Also, where we golfed doesn't even look like the pic below or I would have stuck with it.

4. I LOVE music and singing (in private). If you pull up next to me at the stop light you will look at me and laugh because it will appear that I'm either talking to myself or jamming out. It just plain makes me happy!

5. I can't stop watching Bravo TV! Housewives, Bethenny, Pregnant in Heels, and many more.... Oh, how I love these!

6. I heart Dr.Pepper even though I know it's bad for me and I should drink water instead.

7. My favorite food is guacamole. Basically, I could eat mexican food at every meal, but if I did then my butt would be HUGE!

8.  My closet is full of cardigans!! And I am completely slightly obsessed with J Crew where I have purchased my many stylish cardis. Right now I am on a cardi break though because it's a million degrees here in Dallas and way too hot for them. See you in the fall cardis!

9. I have the cutest boxer ever! Her name is Lily or AKA Big Sister. She was my Christmas present from Randy 5 years ago, the week before we got engaged. We left her with my parents while we went to New York City for Christmas ( and to get engaged) and I sobbed like a baby when I left her. I felt sure that she thought she was being abandoned again. Poor little Lou and cry baby mom.

10. I really wish I was on the beach right about now with my toes in the sand......

That's all you get on me. Now on to the 10 very deserving and creative bloggers that I am passing on this award to. Here they are in no particular order. (That's my disclosure)

They are so pleased with the outcome because they really doubted my choices. (especially my dad)

Botanical Artwork

I found this great site thanks to A Thoughtful Place. She has floral prints in her dining room and come to find out she made them herself off a site called Botanicus.org. My dining room has mirrors on one wall, but was lacking art work. I decided three of these prints would go great on a gallery wall. I went here and printed them on white card stock. It took playing around a bit until the print size was a full page.

When you get to the home page click on the orange download. Beware! It is 410 pages so it might take a bit. Then, just scroll to your heart's desire and print whichever ones will work in your space. You will need to choose your print size on page setup.

After I printed them I purchased 2 gold frames that I found for $8.99 at Michaels. Combined with a 40% off coupon, these frames are a steal! Here's how they turned out.

Ways to Style a Console Table

Styling a console table can be a daunting task. It's hard to design the perfect vignette to match your personal taste. When styling a table we tend to have a preference on how we arrange things. The 3 most commonly used styles that we gravitate towards are symmetrical, asymmetrical, or a collection of items. It's also important to keep in mind balance, color, texture, and the scale of items when styling your table. You want to use various heights, shapes, and sizes of items as well. This will create personality into your space and make it feel like the items just fell into place.

1. Symmetrical tables more often than none are defined by a pair of lamps. The table appears organized and might have balanced artwork, benches, or stools.

2. Asymmetrical styles tend to have 1 tall item such as a lamp and several smaller items.

3. Collections can be showcased to add a dramatic feel rather than spread out around a room.

How do you prefer to style your console tables? I personally prefer the asymmetrical feel, but keep a very balanced approach at the same time. The most important thing to remember is that the style matches the personality and lifestyle of the homeowners and is consistent with the rest of the home.
