Happy Halloween

Bring on the ghosts and goblins because Halloween is finally here! I'm so excited to dress up tonight. Yes, the ladies in my neighborhood are all dressing up to take our little punkins trick or' treating. We are kicking it all off with a block party that will for sure include a fruity concoction by my friend Gamze!

In the spirit of Halloween I threw this vignette together last week and wanted to share it with all of you. I purchased everything from either Michael's or Home Goods.

I printed the boo sign from a link party and my awful memory does not recall where.  Please let me know if it's from your blog so I can give you the much deserved credit!

My little munchkin was a little stinker (skunk) last year!

Notice the bowl is half full! Yep, I've been munching. Bring on the fat pants after today!

Pumpkin Patch

We headed out to the pumpkin patch on Friday night along with Ava's cousin Shelby and some friends. I don't think Baby A got the memo to smile in pictures though! She seriously frowned the whole time! Well, the whole time we took pics that is. She was smiling and laughing while running around in search of her perfect pumpkin. Of course she tried to pick up the biggest ones she could find!

Yep, this is the one Dada!

Giving the pumpkin some love!

Is that a smile I finally see?

Yay!!

The best smile of all!

There was a chill in the air which made the evening so appropriate! Can't beat giddy kiddos, a hay ride, picking out pumpkins, and good friends. Did I mention that we stuffed our faces with mexican food afterwards?!

Bachelor Pad

Did you read this month's issue of House Beautiful? If so, then you saw this casual, modern man cave. It's cozy and warm without being too masculine. The home owner is a professional hockey player in Hermosa Beach, California, but honestly, I would die to call this place home. A few added feminine touches, and it would be quite suitable for a female's taste.

My favorite part of the whole house is the outdoor living space. We are currently gathering ideas for our future outdoor space and this is close to what I'm envisioning. Loving the rug that grounds the whole space with the round, white table. I'm seeing sofas and colorful pillows too!! Can't wait to show the hubs this photo.

It's All in the Details

You can see that I have changed things up in my dining room for the 100th tenth or so time.

We started with this:

It has transformed to this:

And now I plan on finishing things off (for now) to incorporate these details:

Now, I haven't ordered the fabric just yet, because I want YOUR opinion. What should I do?

A: Keep the Cream Dupioni Drapes
or
B: Make new drapes out of the Clarice Dove fabric to add pattern and color to the room

And just so you know, the candelabra is primed and ready for black lacquer! Goodbye bronze!

Caitlin Wilson Textiles

Have you been counting down the launch of Caitlin Wilson Textiles like I have? Well, the much anticipated launch was on Monday and they are a hit in my eyes. I'm sure you will think so as well when you check them out. She has great patterns and color ways to choose from. Plus, it's reasonably priced.

And if you like a fabric, but don't sew like me, then you can purchase pillow covers directly from her.

I'm eyeing this Mustard Fleur Chinoise and think it might be just what my bathroom window needs.

Wedding Pics

Like I said yesterday, weddings are a TON of work. My mom and I put so much time and effort into making the day special for my brother and his fiance'. It was fun, and turned out just like we had hoped, but I'm glad to say it's over and we can relax now. Here are some of the special touches and a few of my favorite photos.

You can tell we had a great time with our family and friends! Plus, who is that adorable flower girl?!

Congrats to the bride and groom!

Makeover Monday {Dixie Delights}

I'm so glad to be back in town and able to relax now after a whirl wind last couple of weeks. Let me just say that weddings are a TON of work. The event was beautiful though. I'll be sharing the pics with you tomorrow. For today, we have an amazing basement makeover to check out.

Hey y'all!  I'm Amanda from Dixie Delights and I'm just delighted to join in on the fun here at A Lived In Home.  When we unearthed mold in our forty-year old basement, it prompted an extensive DIY, year long renovation that recently wrapped up!!  We had professionals remove the mold and hook up the plumbing on the bar sink, but the rest was done by our four untrained hands!

I only have a few pictures of the "before."  It was much too yucky for me to spend time down there photographing.  The space was loaded with navy blue carpeting, dark painted paneling, water stained ceilings, mirrored walls and various other unmentionables.  Oh yeah, and the mold.

And, without further ado, behold the "after".

Should you want to peruse the unabridged edition of ALL the titillating details for this entire basement project, including sources and how-tos, look here for the vision, here for a eight month update, here for the bar reveal, here for the finally finished banquette, here for the buffet, here for the stairway, here for the bath, and here for the den.

Pop on over to visit me any time at Dixie Delights!
xoxo, Amanda

The Big Day

After months of planning, the big day is FINALLY here for my brother and his fiancé.

Now, I just need to stop off at a convenient store and find ring pops. Cute huh?!

I'll be showing the wedding pics next week along with the diy projects we incorporated. Wish me luck with the centerpieces!

Happy Wedding Day Brandon and Heidi! Love you guys!
