Bedroom Design

I always love working with repeat clients and am always thankful for the opportunities! This time my client wanted to redo her master bedroom. She wanted a sitting area and a serene, but colorful space to go with the SW Useful Gray she painted her walls recently. Not only will she get color, but a touch of glamour too!!

Breakfast Room Design

I'm back with another design for the Gossford House. Remember, last week's design was the living room. We are sticking with a cozy and comfortable feel throughout so even if it's freezing outside, it will be warm inside all year round! Our pallet is full of neutrals, and shades of blue including navy. This week we move into the breakfast area where many family dinners will be enjoyed!

My favorite part of the design has to be the graphic prints above the buffet! They definitely bring a lot of visual interest to this space!

Living Room Design

It's bittersweet that I post this living room design because it means that our dear friends have moved onward and upward! Upward, as in basically Canada! They've moved on to the land of ice and snow which is not common ground for Texans! 

 I am lucky enough to have designed a few spaces in the new house they are currently building and I know they will have a cozy and warm place to call their new home! This will be their new family room to make wonderful memories in with their precious kiddos! 

I can't wait to go visit them and see the room in person! My friend is so eager and already purchasing items off the design! Yeah, she's a dream client!

Guest Bedroom Design

This is the design for a guest bedroom I'm working on. My client's main purpose for the space is to have a bright and welcoming space for her sweet mom when she visits. She loves the colors of the ocean so that was our jumping off point, plus her mom loves coral so I combined the two. 

The space was a bare canvas since the family just moved in to their newly built home. This week, it was painted a light shade of gray and already looks better! We are waiting for everything to arrive that we ordered and I'll be installing the first week of June! I can't wait to see it all come together!

A Colorful Big Boy Room

Working with children is such a fun and inspiring job! Whenever I have the opportunity to design a kid's space I am overjoyed and usually my brain is flooded with ideas. This particular 7 year old boy had one request for his new space, orange and red! So, I got busy making his wish a reality. 

The only change we are making is swapping the aqua herringbone fabric for a navy herringbone. His mom wanted drapery that would easily transition if he wanted to switch things up later on. 

The room is being painted a gorgeous shade of gray in the coming weeks, then the fun begins! Stay tuned! 

E-Design Living Room

A lovely family asked me to design their family room. The space is large and open and was basically a blank canvas for me to work with. It seemed pretty dark though, so I wanted to lighten it up and give the space a fresh feel. They also wanted to switch up the layout and mount the TV over the fireplace which is what I suggested so they could add more seating. 

The sofa would obviously face the seating area and the fireplace. I suggested they paint the walls a soft blue or gray with a golden color on the ceiling. 

I can't wait to see what she chooses! 

Here's the space we're transforming! Basically, everything will be replaced except the leather chair and the sweet frames of her kiddos!

Friday Mood Board

Happy Friday everyone! I'm in such a spring mode right now that I decided to come up with this flirty and fresh mood board for a girl's bedroom and bathroom! The best part is that all of these items are from the H&M home line. I'm obsessed with their clothes so why not jump on the rest of what they offer! Check out some of the prices and you'll see what I mean! I mean, how cute is that star throw blanket and I'm dying over the pillow! Any little girl or tween would love a room decked out in this decor!

Have any of you shopped the home line? I'm curious to know if you have and what kind of quality the products are. I'm thinking they are along the lines of IKEA probably! Please share if you have experience them before! I'd love your feedback!

Entry Way Design

A close friend of mine recently moved into a new custom home and needed help with her entry way. I came up with 2 designs to complement the bright and cheery piece that already occupies the space. 

Which design would use choose? She loved both but chose option 1. Both mirrors are stunning and either would make a statement!

A Classy Kid's Bath

A kid's bathroom doesn't have to be colorful and juvenile or decked out in Disney characters! You can achieve a whimsical look that's classy and elegant all at the same time. I used a simple striped shower curtain from West Elm and paired it with an animal print rug to add pattern and an unexpected element. 

The artwork is Sugarboo which is a favorite of mine! It adds a playful touch to any space! 

A few elegant accessories and classy lighting makes this bathroom fit for just about anyone!

A Family Friendly Space

I recently worked on designing a family friendly, but stylish space for a client. They wanted the room to be cozy and comfortable since this is where they would end up hanging out as a family most. 

I came up with 2 very similar designs that both had ottomans for kicking up their feet, but completely different art pieces! 

She ultimately decided on the second design because of her love for the greek key fabric on the ottomans! It's such a timeless and universal print! 

The room has been painted and I know she has been busy pulling it all together! I've been promised pictures once it's complete that I will definitely share with you!

Polyvore Contest

Over the weekend I started playing with the new Home feature on Polyvore. I literally stayed up until midnight creating a bedroom design on Friday night because the new tool is so easy to use and there are thousands of products to pick from right at your fingertips! 

This morning I was so excited to see that Megan from Honey We're Home is sponsoring a Project Decorate contest on Polyvore, so I quickly finished my design and entered the contest! Here is the Sexy Glam bedroom I designed!

Cozy and Sophisticated Office E-Design

When designing an office you don't have to stick with traditional office pieces. This client wanted to keep her traditional desk, and bookcase, but mix in other patterns and prints to keep it casual, yet sophisticated and fun! She mentioned her love for chevron prints and fluffy rugs so that was my jumping off point! 

You can see the space has nice tall ceilings and plenty of natural light. It was basically a blank canvas with great bones for me to design. Both chairs were replaced with comfortable seating. 

 Last week Benjamin Moore's Taos Taupe went up on the walls and it is already warmer. 

My client, being the rockstar she is, has everything ordered and on the way so I'm sure I'll be sharing a completed office with you in no time!

A Dining Room Makeover

I have an adorable client who had a bright green dining room that was definitely not fitting her style or personality. She was very eager to get rid of the green and warm the space up. Here's the design I came up with to transform her room. 

Now, to give you some perspective, here's a shot of the room before it was painted yesterday. 

And here's a progress shot after the walls were painted. 

The ceiling got a fresh coat of paint as well. 

This is truly an example of how paint can make such a huge impact on a space!! 

I can't wait to see how the whole space pulls together and show you the outcome! 

Nursery Design

This nursery design was a thrill to put together! It's for a sweet little boy who is getting a brand new nursery in a new custom home! The room is finally starting to come to life with navy walls and wainscoting that is being installed this week. Plus, he has a large picture window which allows so much natural light! 

We can't wait until October to get in there and outfit his "Animals Around the World" nursery!

Client Entry Way Reveal

I created this design board for a client in Houston which I shared with you a while back. Well, I'm finally getting around to showing you what a fabulous job she did with warming up her entry way. Before, the space was a blank canvas. Now, it's inviting for guests that come through the front door. 

It's so nice to work with client's that are enthusiastic about design and transforming their home. It makes my job that much more rewarding! 

Up next are pictures of the extended entry, then her living room which I designed as well! 

An Entry Way Design Board

 



This design board for an entry way was created for an E-design client of mine. The space was empty and lacked color and personality. It's the first sight guests get of the home so she wanted it to be welcoming.

First, the space got a coat of paint in Waynesboro Taupe to add warmth. We also added an existing mirror.

We chose the table from World Market since it's long and narrow. It's a favorite of mine and I've used it many times since, including in my own home.
As soon as I get photos back from my client I'll be sharing the completed space with you!

 

 

Client Living Room

 

I have a client that lives in Houston that is just a dream to work with! Room by room we've been collaborating using e-design to bring her home to life and add warmth! She's a girl after my own heart because she absolutely loves gray! I'm kind of obsessed too!

Now, I say she's a dream to work with because as soon as I send her a design board and the details she's purchasing everything before I can hardly hit send! I've seen a peek of her living room in pictures since we have since moved on to her kitchan and I must say she has done a fabulous job following my plans! I can't wait to share them with you soon!

Client Living Room Design

I have an adorable new client who is so ready for change in her home. She's a lot like me in that she wants her space completed yesterday. She has been in her home for over a year now and wants to add color and warmth so it feels like a cozy home instead of just a house. 

I'm lucky in that her home has great bones and she has already painted her living room a neutral color so it's easy for us to splash color around. We are also using her current sofa and chair which saves a ton! What's funny is that she has the same floor plan as my home so I know every nook and cranny! 

Here's the design board I put together for her space. 

 In a dream world, we all wish funds were unlimited and we could snap our fingers to get things accomplished right away. Unfortunately, in the design world, decorating your home is a process. I actually believe that you need to live in your home before jumping to decisions because in the end when you rush, you end up not loving what you've chosen. Trust me, I have been there. 

I really think my client has done the right thing by waiting until now to make decisions about her space! Now, we just have to wait a bit longer for it to come to fruition! I'll share pictures along the way of course!

Big Girl Room Design

The big girl room design is FINALLY done!

I thought my mind was made up for Ava's room, so I made a plan, then deleted it, made another, deleted it, and so on. Fabric samples were ordered, paint colors narrowed down, then my mind turned to mush! Gave it some time, then went in somewhat of another direction after spotting this gorgeous room:

Last summer I actually spotted these vibrant and colorful pillows and knew I would use this fabric someday so Alison from BDG was sweet enough to give me the source. After a year I had totally forgotten about this gorgeousness until she posted an update on the room and I was instantly inspired again!

Here it is. I can't wait for it to arrive.

Yesterday, I decided to add this Josephine desk to her room so she'll have scribbling space to draw mommy beautiful pictures!  And of course, it's on clearance now so I'm having to get it later this week when I head out of town. It would be too easy if my local World Market had it in stock or any other one in the Dallas area. Boo! :(

Playroom Design Board

A sweet friend of mine is having a baby girl this summer, which makes 3, so a gender neutral playroom is in order for their family. We all want a space where our kids can retreat to make a mess to their little heart's content. This new space will be in what was the dining room, which opens up to the main hallway. We knew organization and tidiness was in order to hide the clutter and millions of toys. Here's what we brainstormed together on the premise of using primary colors. 

We had a successful IKEA trip the other day where we picked up most of the items except the Expedit which they were out of. The new high gloss gray is a nice alternative to the white I usually gravitate towards.

The chevron rug was 60% off over the weekend (score) so it should arrive in the next week, and the room is being painted Friday. We hope to make some progress over the weekend and next week. I'll of course share the progress with you.

This is a race against the baby clock- K arrives in 8 weeks or less and Mama will need a place for the boys to escape to for her sanity!
