What's For Dinner

In an effort to be more health conscious and cut down our eating out, I hit up Pinterest over the weekend for recipes.  Here's what I'm serving up this week!

Last night we enjoyed the Tilapia Tacos. They were full of flavor, but could have been a touch spicier! Overall, they were delicious, quick to prepare, and I will certainly make them again.

Have you made any Pinterest inspired recipes lately?

Loving polka dots for fall! They are hip! Apparently, all the cool kids will be wearing them!

So, will you be a cool kid this fall?

A Bathroom Makeover

Last week I told you that I got a wild hair and painted one of our bathrooms upstairs. This is primarily a guest bathroom so I wanted it to be fresh and inviting. I had a sample cup of Palladian Blue and was dying to paint a room that color, so this was the perfect candidate.
I'm loving the new, brighter feel and hopefully my future guests will too! I actually sent a picture to my best friend who uses it most often when she visits and asked her how she liked her new bathroom. She loved it and agreed its a huge improvement.

The printable is from here.

Here's a reminder of what I started off with. You can see the space was dark, and lacked crispness or a calming effect.

And, here's another after shot! I'll say it again, "The easiest way to transform a space is with paint!"

Not only did this space get a whole new feel, but I spent very little money. I shopped my own home to style the space which was free!!

Here's the breakdown on what I spent:

Paint- Benjamin Moore Palladian Blue $30
Shower Curtain- Target $25
Acrylic Tray- The Container Store $10

Do the math, and that's a whopping $65! Not bad considering the transformation!

A Quatrefoil Mirror Perhaps

When I share my newly painted guest bath pictures with you, it will be apparent that the hideous builder mirror still exists! I've been shopping around for a new mirror that will dress up the space and of course not break the bank. Mirrors can be pricey as I'm sure you know! Here are some great options to dress up any bathroom.

If I go with this mirror it needs a couple coats of spray paint to give it a cleaner and brighter look.

From the title of this post you can tell which one I'm leaning towards! I need to head to Lowes to check it out in person now!

Which one would you choose?

2nd Birthday Party Details

I shared Ava's 2nd Birthday Party with you and now I'm sharing some of the details.

I found these art easels at Hobby Lobby for 30% off and knew they would be super cute to hold the food labels that I made on Pic Monkey.

All I did was give them a heavy coat of primer.

Then, I covered them in lime green spray paint. Love this color!!

As you can tell, the #2 also got primed and painted, but in Magenta. This small addition will remind me when I look back at photos that this was Ava's 2nd birthday. And, it was a great photo prop!

I found these buckets in the dollar section at Target and made little notes that say, "Add some sweets to your bucket!" I used my favorite photo editing site again, Pic Monkey. I purchased the round candy tags from Etsy. Everyone filled their bucket with candy as as parting gift.

The birthday banners were made using layers of scrapbook paper. You can't tell from the pictures, but there is a solid layer of card stock on the back with polka dot paper on top. I made the circles with the letters on Pic Monkey. Pink ribbon was used to string the triangles together.
I have to say this took the longest time to make so I will definitely be using them year after year!!

This party was for sure a labor of love, but all that mattered was Ava had a blast which made it all worth it!

Lime and Pink Nursery

Remember this nursery that was in the works? Well, I'm so happy to finally report that not only is it complete, but the new baby tenant has arrived! Baby Kiki as Ava calls her is simply precious! In no time she will be using her fun, new nursery that is splattered in greens and pinks.

The frame is awaiting her birth facts art!

Here's a picture to give you an idea of what we started with. Once my friend and I got the vision for her new space, we instantly started painting it ourselves because we were way to impatient to hold off for Nate the Great!
