The Newest Green Home

If you are an HGTV fanatic like myself, then you are aware that they have an annual Green Home giveaway. I'm always astounded by how they combine green and gorgeous living. This year's home outside of Atlanta, GA impresses again and boasts serene outdoor spaces as well as beautiful interior spaces. Take a peek for yourself and maybe even enter to win. Why not?  I'll be entering twice daily. I have family in Atlanta so I really think I should win this phenomenal place!

I was not asked by HGTV to give my opinions, but just wanted to share this remarkable home with you!

White Interiors

There's something so crisp and relaxing about white spaces. An all white master bedroom with a bit of color from fresh flowers would be so tranquil. I'm loving the monochromatic look in this bedroom above.  How soft does that rug look?! You do know this could only happen if you don't have little ones running around and putting their grubby paws on everything. Or, you just buy stock in Clorox.

Kitchen Tables

Do you have a preference of white or wood toned kitchen tables? Maybe you even prefer a table with more pizazz that boasts a pop of color?

The reason I pose this question is because I'm so tired of all the dark furniture in our home. I've slowly been weeding pieces out and the next item on my list is our kitchen table. If you remember, I brought up the topic before and even recovered the brown cushions here to lighten the space up. That strategy held me off for a few months until I was ready to pull the trigger. We are also going from bar height to a standard height table so the little one can excuse herself and not have to climb down from The North Pole.

So, with all of that said, the time has come for table de darko to go. Where, I'm not sure yet. But, I've purchased a new one and a few new chairs. 2 to be exact. They are put together and sitting in the kitchen area just waiting for a table which is still in the box collecting dust.

Hubby's opinion strongly somewhat matters and he isn't crazy about a white table. Ok, I gave it away. But, I have promised him the space will look pulled together and much better than it does now. Better that is once I have 2 more chairs. Those, I'm still wavering on. I have a couple arm chair options in mind. Hopefully I will narrow things down and share my options with you next week.

I'd love to hear your thoughts. Do you gravitate towards a traditional wood table or do you prefer a different style?

1 Year Blogiversary

As I was blogging away yesterday it dawned on me that my Blogiversary was probably approaching. Glad I looked, cause it's today! I cannot even believe that it's been a year already of writing posts, connecting with other bloggers, and finding inspiring ideas daily.

This new journey of mine has been so worthwhile!Writing this blog is so enjoyable and a wonderful outlet for my creativity and a way for me to share projects from around my home. I've also grown my interior design business from it, which is a dream come true. Connecting with people and making new friendships is also a great perk. There are so many people I follow now and I feel apart of their lives.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of my loyal readers and followers! You are the reason I continue to be inspired and post daily! Your comments and feedback are so appreciated and welcomed. If you don't already follow me, then this is a great opportunity to do so. I would love to hit 300 GFC followers today. I'm sooo close! Plus, when you follow, I know who is supporting my endeavors!

THANKS A MILLION!
I look forward to the 2nd year of blogging adventures and watching A Lived in Home grow even more!

Monogramming

How's this for personalized? I say if you can monogram it, then why not! Monogrammed items make great gifts, complete an outfit,  or add a special touch to the home. I have countless monogrammed items around my home such as towels, pillows, wine glasses, makeup bags, and we can't forget the slew of items in "A's" room!

How about a derby hat with a personalized touch..

Or the ever popular initial necklace...

Here's some examples of how to incorporate such items into your own home.

Have you jumped on board the monogram craze?

Chair Makeover

My office got a new chair. It didn't look like this when I got it though.

A sweet friend of mine was doing some spring cleaning and I was on the lucky end of her purging. I couldn't believe she was getting rid of this treasure, but you know how the saying goes.

Sorry for the bad iPhone pic

She couldn't find a place to use it in her home, but I actually needed an office chair and was more than happy to take it off her hands and give it life. I sanded, primed, painted, and sealed the chair. This is my go to primer:

I painted the chair Blue Danube by Benjamin Moore:

Here's how it looked several days and a sore arm later.

Well worth the sweat and pain I must say!

Easter Recap

Our Easter was packed full of excitement! Once again, the Easter Bunny went overboard on "A's" basket. Go figure!

The bunny cup was a big hit. You can see she's trying to drink from the empty cup.

"Ah, crayons, momma!"

She enjoyed Gram and Da time.

She was not cooperating for the pic with mom and dad.

Lunch at Cheesecake Factory with Poppy

She's hollering "Eat!"

We had an egg hunt indoors since it was raining. She loved the chocolate that was hidden in the eggs.

I hope you had a wonderful Easter, Passover, or weekend with your family. Ours couldn't have been better! Every year it's more and more fun as "A" gets bigger and more into the holidays. Seeing her smile warms my heart!
