My Hallo Decor

For Halloween this year I kept it simple and contained to one spot in my home! I wanted to be able to throw it together and quickly take it down on November 1st.  The only piece that took any effort was the gold boo that was a dollar purchase from someone in my neighborhood. It was a funny color and chipped so I brought it back to life with spray paint. You can never go wrong with a golden touch!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

Stationery Love

Are you drooling yet? I'm obsessed with A)gold B)stationery and C) polka dots, so I think these are calling my name!! The best part is that these hit Target shelves a few days ago! Gotta love Sugar Paper products!

I was even at Target yesterday but didn't have a chance to check out the new line because "A" was that kid at the store screaming and tossing the groceries out of the cart! Yep, it was fun! So, while she's at school today I'm headed back for a gander!

Are you in need for some new stationery?! Run to Target!

A Family Friendly Space

I recently worked on designing a family friendly, but stylish space for a client. They wanted the room to be cozy and comfortable since this is where they would end up hanging out as a family most.

I came up with 2 very similar designs that both had ottomans for kicking up their feet, but completely different art pieces!

She ultimately decided on the second design because of her love for the greek key fabric on the ottomans! It's such a timeless and universal print!

The room has been painted and I know she has been busy pulling it all together! I've been promised pictures once it's complete that I will definitely share with you!

Entryway Updates

Not too long ago I had plans to add sconces and perhaps a pair of x-benches to my entryway. Well, it didn't happen. I was hoping to find a pair of matching benches or ones I could reupholster, but ran out of luck and patience. Then, my luck officially ran out and so did the inventory of the sconces I wanted! That's when we moved on to plan B! Plan B was there was no plan! Ha!

So, in the meantime I moved the ugly coat rack into the laundry room and stuck a fiddle leaf in it's place to fill the empty spot and add a nice touch of greenery! It also really helped balance the space since I have a chair on the other side. Here's how it previously looked!

Then, poof! I found an amazing set of sea fan art for next to nothing! Voila', I knew the perfect space for them!

They filled the large gaps I needed them to while adding just a touch of personality and color. Plus, the black frames pop against the bland beige walls. I'm thinking now the sconces wouldn't have even shown up that well! Blessing in disguise I guess.

I also moved my large clam shell to the entry and added some moss and succulents to it! I'm really enjoying this space now! There are only a few touches of color amongst the neutrals and it flows really well with the adjacent spaces.

Sometimes, simple is better!!

Art Supply Organization

As a mom of a creative little girl, I'm constantly cleaning up and corralling crayons, markers, pencils, stickers, etc. I like for the supplies to be accessible for her to create as she pleases, but also stored easily when she's finished.

I have mason jars in the pantry left over from a baby shower so I thought why not put them to good use! I grabbed 2 of them and sprayed the lids with black chalkboard paint I had in the garage. After they dried, I wrote on the lids, and filled them with some of her supplies.

Voila'!! Cute storage containers in about 20 minutes and no more scattered crayons or colored pencils!

A Bowl of Goodness

Cold weather calls for a big bowl of chili! When the temperatures dropped and the rain moved in that's exactly what I made this week! Usually, I make a pot of chili on the stove top, but instead I threw everything in the crock pot this time.

Here's how I made it:
  • 2 cans of diced tomatoes and onions
  • 1 can of tomato sauce
  • 1 can of water
  • 1 package of ground turkey meat
  • 1 can of red kidney beans
  • 1 Tb minced onions
  • 1 Tb garlic salt
  • 1 Tsp pepper
  • 3 Tb of chili seasoning from Carroll Shelby's chili kit
  • 1 Tb masa from the chili kit
I threw everything into the crock pot and cooked it on high for 4 hours then turned it to low for 2 more hours.

You can garnish with cheese and Fritos because there's no other way to eat it!!
