Looking for Lucite

Do you know what lucite is? No, it's not a precious stone if you were thinking that. The word does have a nice ring to it though! If you love design like I do, then I really hope you know what it is and I also hope that you are craving a piece for somewhere in your home. You just need 1 piece of clear acrylic furniture to shake up any room in any style. It can be found all over the place in all price points. Here are some rooms with lucite pieces. Instead of Where's Waldo, it's look for lucite.

Summer Organization Part 2

Dear Merry Maids,
I so desperately need you! Please come to my home for a deep cleaning. I will even lock up the shedding dog and take the cute crawler with me. If you come just once I promise to keep it up after that.

                                                   Signed,
                                                       Desperate and Dirty

Well, they haven't shown up yet so I think it's time to start a cleaning schedule. I obviously can't clean my whole house in one day. I do have an 11 month old cutie that likes to destroy things as I get them in order, and she's kind of high maintenance. Plus, she doesn't quite understand that mommy needs time to clean. One can only do so much during nap times and that's usually my shower time which will remain at the top of the totem pole! Kind of important that I stay clean!

Now, I don't want to draw out the cleaning too much because I like a clean home. I want to enjoy the cleanliness before it's time to start all over. Some things also need to be accomplished daily due to our shedding dog Lily.

Here's the schedule I came up with:

MONDAY:
  • Do a load of Baby A's laundry
  • Clean floors with Bona duster and polish
  • Vacuum rugs
  • Clean Master Bathroom
TUESDAY:
  • Do a load of laundry
  • Clean Bathroom #2
  • Dust everything upstairs and downstairs
  • Swiffer floors
WEDNESDAY:
  • Do a load of laundry
  • Clean Bathroom #3
  • Wipe down all glass with glass cleaner
  • Swiffer floors
THURSDAY:
  • Do a load of laundry
  • Clean Bathroom #4
  • Vacuum
  • Swiffer floors
FRIDAY:
  • Change sheets on beds including Baby A's crib and her changing pad cover
  • Do a load of Baby A's laundry
  • Swiffer floors
  • Clean kitchen top to bottom and clean out refrigerator
This plan will hopefully help distribute all the back breaking necessary cleaning. I'll have a break on Saturdays and Sundays to be poolside with the family!

Summer Organization- Part 1

The mommy madness is on!! Let the OCD kick in because our household is getting organized. This all stems from a cute binder I found on one of my recent Target shopping trips and an idea for a Home Management Notebook that I saw on Simple Mom. I had to purchase the binder because A) it matches my newly decorated office B) it looks really good sitting on my desk and C) we need to get organized.

Now, I couldn't let the binder go to waste so I filled it with dividers and named them.

The tabs are labeled:
 Projects
 Blog
 Birthdays
 Baby A
 Notes

The project section contains pictures of design boards, or inspirational photos for upcoming projects. For now, the one that's front and center is a wedding design board for my brother's wedding that I'm planning. You didn't know I added wedding planner to my list of jobs these days did you?!

The blog tab is for ideas and inspiration for blog posts. Sometimes my ideas come to me while driving, laying in bed, or shopping, so I have to quickly write them down before my memory fails me! If you have kids then you get the memory part. You get pregnant and then your brain dissolves. It's really weird!

The birthday section contains a perpetual calendar that I downloaded from here and wrote in  all important birthdays. When I say important I don't mean Nate Berkus or George Clooney even though George and I are really tight these days and I would like Nate to be my BFF. I really mean family and friends. Maybe now I can start sending cards to these important people. I'm really bad  awful about that!

The Baby A section is for anything pertaining to my precious little wee one!

The notes section is anything that doesn't fit under one of the above mentioned sections.

The Weekly Agenda
In order to stay organized I decided I needed a weekly agenda so I could set goals for the week, put them in order of importance, and mark them off as I complete them. There's something about taking a colored pen and marking through something that's completed. It makes me tingle inside.

In addition, why not eliminate a separate grocery list and weekly menu and just combine it with our goals. Too many lists = chaos and clutter! I also needed space to list my weekly blog posts, and notes about who I need to contact. Here's the completed agenda I made to meet our family's busy needs.

The categories are:
Top 3 Goals
Weekly Goals
Dinner
Groceries
Go Buy
To Call/Email
Blog Ideas

Now, our Home Management Notebook is complete and we start utilizing it today! We shall see how it goes. Like with anything else, I'm sure it will have flaws and need some tweaking along the way.

Mud Room in Need

I'm longing for a laundry room makeover/mud room. The space will do double duty as a laundry room and catch all for us and Lily's (Our sweet doggy) items. Right now the space has boring white walls with black decor. Actually, lack there of cute decor! We need covered storage to house the laundry items, dog collars, leash, and dirty shoes from outside. The only solution is a laundry room overhaul!

I'm thinking gray walls with black, white, and green decor. I for sure want to keep the storage containers I already have and just add to them. Then, I'll punch it up with kelly green accents. Lily will even be taken care of with new pet supplies. Her items have to coordinate too!

Here is what the laundry room looks like now. Yuck! Boring! And yes, I am embarrassed by the look of things! My Samsung washer and dryer rock though!! They are definitely staying!!

Here are some mud rooms and spaces that have inspired me to transform my space!

Here is what I would like to incorporate into the design. Wouldn't a chandelier be great in there? It's whimsical and fun! Plus, it's only $50 from IKEA!

What Do I Want?

I want....

A WHITE KITCHEN WITH CARRERA MARBLE!!

A girl can dream, right? I am so in love with these kitchens and for some reason my wacky sweet husband does not like white cabinets! What is wrong with him? That's alright because I will get them in our next house when he goes out of town and I am left to make decisions without him! Shhh..... Don't tell him that though.

Do you prefer white cabinets or dark like my hubby?

Nursery Design Board

For the BIG "If and When" I get to design a nursery for any one of my married and trying to get pregnant friends, then this is one option I have come up with. I'm hooked on navy and lime green right now so I thought those colors in a nursery would be fabulous! I just went for it!
